Have you been Blinded by Stardust yet? Well, we have.
The cool music project was founded in Vienna in 2011 and not only do they want to make us dance with their music that “tells stories about the highs and lows of the human existence”, but they also combine other fields of art such as fashion, design, film and animation. We had the pleasure to speak to Lukas Cioni, the singer and songwriter behind it and he tells us who else is part of this project and what music means to him..
Who is behind “Blinded by Stardust” ?
There are several people working together on this project trying to combine creative elements such as music, fashion, design, film and animation. From a musical perspective, there is me Lukas Cioni, the singer and songwriter of Blinded by Stardust. I work together on this project with many loving people – filmmakers like Nina Worisch (DeadRabbitMedia), talented musicans such as Max Proll or graphic designers like Wolfgang Sam and others. Working and connecting with other young creatives is a great source of inspiration for the whole music project Blinded by Stardust. For example the last music video Can´t We Just Dance Instead shows the collection of a young upcoming Austrian fashion designer named Marlena Gubo and the work of the street artist Roofie.
So “Can´t We Just Dance Instead” is your new video. The clubbing scenes -we are curious – in which club they have been shot? It´s a secret underground club in vienna without a fix adress. It changes the location nearly every week and there are no consistant clubdates. At the day of the video shoot the club had been located in the 7th district and we all will remember that night for a very long time. Thanks to everyone who organized this whole event and to every single guest who´s now a part of the music video.

What does music mean to you?
Hmm.. a lot. It’s hard to explain. Music is magic. Music is love. Music is the mirror of ourselves. It makes you feel better or gives you the strength to carry on whenever you’re down. Music is what feelings sound like. A world without music would be a world without feelings, without love. We all need music.
Any words on the Austrian music-scene? What would you change if you would have the possibilites.
There are many talented arists out there in Vienna and also in other parts of Austria like the band Gicht, the End Band or CheeryCherrily. But theres only a small market in Austria who´s dominated by major labels. That´s not a bad thing as long as they not only support mainstream music. As a small unsigned artist it´s sometimes difficult and hard to make the way on your own. You have to push yourself every single day without knowing if you ever succeed. You need the help of loving friends who support you in what you´re doing. (I LOVE YOU ALL!). I do think if you´re loving what you´re doing, it´s always worth it!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Maybe working in an supermarket. Maybe on the top of the billboard charts. But I hope it will be somewhere in the middle. Fingers crossed.
Are you obsessed about anything?
I´m obsessed about realizing creative things like making music and others. I think that I have to be because althought it´s sometimes a bit stressful it keeps me alive. I could not imagine doing nothing or just one thing like going to work every single day and that´s it. I need to do something more. Sometimes it´s a challenge whenever I´m on holiday. It´s hard for me to completely relax, but I´m glad the way it is, because it keeps me going.
Thanks to the the whole C-Heads Team for the opportunity to be in your great Magazine and to the people out there who support the music project Blinded by Stardust. Like Brian Molko once sad: Without you I´m nothing.
Thanks for the talk!
