“Maybe photography is a vain human attempt to fool death.” philosophises Lun des Nombreux, an Italian based photographer. His work strikes me with its quiet beauty – it appears aesthetically and sensual demanding even with more daring contents. In our interview he tells us what nudity signifies and where he sees himself in a few years.

Where does your love for photography come from?

It’s a need, a dependency. I don’t know where it comes from but I know that it fulfills a need. Maybe it’s a vain human attempt to fool death. Someone uses words, someone light, someone other tools.

What do you want to capture in your pictures?

Are you telling me that there is someone that crazy to think there’s a project behind my pics? :) Joking aside, I shoot what I like to look at, I’m always looking for shapes in balance, for pieces of reality I can blend with illusions. Because not everything you see is real.
The main theme is certainly the woman, I try to catch all that’s not conventional and I try to untie the female image from the rules of a mystical and patriarchal society. We are under obligation to women, all of us.

Where do you find your models?

They just turn up in my life, or I turn up into theirs. It’s a fair exchange, indeed I often find myself humanely enriched.

Being naked is…?

To pickaxe the wall of the society’s grim morality. It may seem trivial, nowadays nudity is everywhere and it has been part of the imaginery since the end of the XIX century. There must be a reason if we don’t get bored of looking at nudity. Our body speaks for ourself, it must be seen and shown. It’s inevitable. It’s not by chance that nudity is a means of promotion for businness.

Where do you get your inspirations from?

From the people I meet, from other photographer’s work, from the past, from desires, from curiosity.

The most important thing in life is?

Now, the present moment. We must live it deeply and carefully.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

I don’t think I will ever become popular or rich because of my photos. Our economic system is a joke and the market is full of good and very good photographers. I’m just a craftsman of light. Anyway, if there will ever be work for me, in which I can put my own style, I won’t step aside. Let’s say that in five years’ time I’d like to have moved house so my daughter and my dogs can have more space. Everything else is unexpected.
