Italy is not just the country that can offer one of the best culinary or tourism experiences. It is also a country that has much to offer within the music section. I myself had the opportunity to make sure of that in November at Turin‘s Club To Club festival where I also had the chance to talk with a couple of locals and found out more about the producers and djs of this lovely country. Well, I was quite positively suprised. It’s a little bit of a shame that Italian artists are not so often mentioned on music websites… So I decided to ask a member of Bosconi label, the young and very talented house producer Herva, to introduce us to the Italian beats. Enjoy!

Hello Herve, thanks for your time. How have you been?Hey Simone! I’m fine thanks :D
You come from Italy, from beautiful Florence. Tell me, how is your opinion about the Italian music scene? I was at Club to Club last year and it was really a quality event… I guess it’s not so bad down South :) Here the situation according to me isn’t so bad. Tere’s a lot of smallclub’s scenes that bring alive the undergoundmusic, and I want to be honest I prefer much more a smaller club compared to a big nightclub. The vibe is so different, there’s no tension and it is like having a big party at home -I really love it! I read you have been a talented drummer. Did you also have a band? How long for? Yeah, I’ve played for years, although right now I play a lot less. Until about 4/5 years ago I had a band, then I have dedicated myself completely to electronic music. I think that between the 2 choices is the more right one for me. Do you miss it sometimes, I mean playing in band? Or it`s like “only electronic music for you now”? I want to be honest, I miss it sometimes, that’s why I want to integrate the 2 things in one. At the end there are 2 sides of the same coin – it’s music, and I‘m both – a drummer and electronic composer. You’ll see the results in my new live, I hope you’ll enjoy it :) You got into electronic music via Aphex Twin, right? Are you still listening to stuff from Warp records? Yeah, I really, really, really love Warp records stuff. It’s always an inspiration for me. Not only Aphex, but also Squarpusher, Brian Eno, Prefuse 73- almost all the releases are amazing! And any other producers you have been listening to lately? The first one that comes into mind is Actress, he has really changed my life. He’s made of solid talent! Except him I’m costantly and always listening to different things, I can´t particularly think of anyone, but at the end all inspires me. Your debut album Meanwhile in Madland will be released on Bosconi records. How long did you work on it? About a year. I’ve produced the album exclusively for Bosconi (except the tracks of the Life’s track project with Dukwa – Marco d’Aquino). When you recognize that a track is finished? It’s impossible to describe, it’s something that you feel inside.. a real feeling. Do you prefer to compose like one track at a time in one night or do you rather keep coming back and work on it gradually? Well, when I start working on the sequencer I prefer to create an initial skeleton and the maybe tweak and rework on it, but the main work is the sound’s choice and the right equalisation which is a very long process. I often spend more than a month on a track. Summer and festivals are coming. Tell me, where we can see and listen to you live? The 8/6 I’ll play at MIT festival Rome and we are still planning the other dates. Could you tell us the story behind your mix for C-heads? There’s no story, just music :) Would you like to leave some message to our readers and listeners? Always listen to good music without being influenced by names! And if you are intrigued you should start playing an instument, just for fun. It’s very relaxing and above all helps the creativity in all the things. Stay tuned! Grazie! :) And take care! Thanks! Bye!
