A perfect picture for the Amercian photographer Jen Fairchild is : “One that makes you feel and think.” Her natural, pure and feminine images lend wings to our soul and imagination. To know a bit about the artist behind the work makes you grasp everything in a deeper way – so let me introduce you to Jen…
Hello Jen! Describe yourself with two sentences.
I’m the most mindfully active person I’ve ever met, and I can’t take life seriously.
What does photography mean to you?
It is a means to an end for me. It’s the only way I know how to express what’s going on inside.
Your images are very natural, pure and very feminine. How much of yourself is in your work?
All of myself! Lately I feel as though I’ve been coming into my own and developing a style that is true to me. It feels really good :)
What is the perfect picture for you?
One that makes you feel and think.
Are you self-taught or do you have any photography related education?
I took a course in high school but didn’t really get into photography until about 4 years ago. Since photography is more about a means to self discovery and less about a career and a degree, school has never really been on the radar for me.
Do you think it is important which camera to use – or with talent one can do great images no matter what equipment?
The hammer does not build the house! I think great images can be created with any medium.
Which question should I have asked you – and what would be the answer?
You should have asked why I took so bloody long to answer your questions, and the answer would be “I’m sorry”.
Where do you see yourself in a few years?
Happy as a freaking clam and continuing to figure out this life thing.
The most important thing in life is?
Love.
