Luke Pradal is a young photographer based in France who is capturing staged youthful moments.
“I strongly stand up for what I believe in and I’ve always tried hard not to fall into that side of photography that is too clean, prefabricated and clinical. I’ve learnt a lot from artists who forged themselves against all prejudices, who proudly claim an amateur spirit (and among them a few Frenchies, from Soulages to Phoenix). I surround myself with the work of people I want to resemble – artists like Bertrand Le Pluard and Melchior Tersen when it comes to photography, or even Jacquemus in the fashion industry, as well as my friends from Noir Coeur on the music side – artists whose work gets me addicted, inspires me and is the perfect creative match of my everyday life.”
Out of love comes hate
I’m so drowned in the sin
of things we don’t question
just threat
In a large cage we’re free
The trees I see are free with
broken branches their fallen
tears
The wind carries secrets I
never knew it could keep
They’re happy they’re sad
There’s flaws in our beauty
That is beauty
The snow is fragile
The speed of a horse
Thick mane and wide
dark eyes
Do you feel the sorrow of
the animal that you cannot
understand
For I do with love for all living
creatures and nature fragile touch
Bewildered touch nature in creature
and nature
Danger and warmth, which sticks
to your body most? Which feels as
if you are truly alive?
The same eyes, children’s eyes
Wide cries you deny the sky full
of scars with wishes of ours
We lye on tombstones we created
Scattered ashes across all seas
Diamonds cut your eyes cat claw
clean
Glimmer of your dreams
The dreams are real
Of birds flying
Blue
White
Black
Red
Dreams are real touch feel tender here
Tattoo black and blue there’s waterfalls
of feelings they come like a desert whirlpool
Inside my stomach it’s empty with vision of
the stale taste we often cling to afraid of all
that we have never known with the sky full
of scars with wishes of ours I think we’re
forgetting how to love our children love our
fathers and mothers
Occupied in cosmic toxic a drench of acid in
your mind tether ball game weather you love or hate
and the large sea the tornado the hurricane the volcano
All peel you down
Don’t you see? So breathlessly, bombs are inside
of the terror the things we unravel onto each other
like venom in the vein poison hate shakes its storm
breathlessly we take for granted the granted plain
and we do not trust with evil in us
How could you extinct the animal as you do?
You do to us with
Religion
Politics
Music and
Movies
Let escape the fear of the wisdom we carry
and tarnish in the cherish debris of our soul
Vast as the ocean small as the grain of sand
As ants of the land we walk unknowingly who
or what will step on to us
Born in Hawaii in the summer of 1971, Lightning Bolt at its core represents a philosophy that surfing, in its truest form, is a way of life rather than just another sport. Those behind the brand redefined surfing in the 70s as the sport and the lifestyle that surrounded it moved away from the traditions of the past and exploded into a new frontier of progression. Today the Bolt is still a symbol that embodies the spirit of that mythical antihero. The brand celebrates the passion of the individual and how surfing is one of the purest ways people can connect to nature while at the same time using it as a canvas for self-expression. As long as I can think I have a crush on Japanese girls. And I think I told you already that I want to be a woman like this in my next life. So beautiful and perfect like Ai Shinozaki who is currently one of the cutest Japanese idols. The 21 year young bombshell is my absolutelyfavorite at the moment and luckily the internet is full of her. Spreads in magazines like V.W.S or EX MAX Special and tons of videos on youtube. Thanks god!
“Analog images looks always different and special, sometimes magical….” tells us young Spanish photographer Silvia Conde who is currently living in Germany. We fell in love with her Analog Diary, a collection of her personal memories and fragments of life.
What means photography to you? And why analog photography?
Photography is an art. I guess like for everybody else it’s a way of expressing myself. In my case, I specially enjoy photographing my everyday-life.
Regarding the analog style, it has something to do with the result: the light, the colours, the textures. Analog looks always different and special, sometimes magical. But it’s also about the manual work, the waiting, the surprises you can have. All these things give analog something that digital does simply not have.
What camera do you use?
Although I collect cameras, I specially shoot with a Yashica MG1 and a Olympus Trip 35. Sometimes I use an old Praktika TL 5B and a Zenit ET. Just this week I got a Canon A1, that I can’t wait to have on my hands.
Tell us a few words on your diary project?
Well, I think everybody should have an own diary, of any kind. In my opinion it’s a way of being able to look back and see what marked you. It’s about memories, about the passage of time, about what you’ve lived. And that’s actually what defines us. In my case, I have an analog diary.
Where do you see yourself in a few years?
I certainly don’t know, but I hope it’s doing something I enjoy.
Local Suicide is a site you´d better know about, as it´s always a great source of wonderful new music pearls. Like the new blow by Jon Hopkins. The London based electronic music producer just dropped out a stunning new visual for “Open Eye Signal” which will be out on digital soon and a white label 12″. Watching the video is like enjoying a movie full of great photography – a city kid taking us on a journey via skateboard including precious moments of a beautiful landscape bathed in bright golden sunlight.
Polyklamott is a charming Vienna based vintage fashion store with sweet and well sorted second hand stuff like training jackets and 70´s and 80´s dresses. The good news are that there will finally be a new website including an online shop – and this calls for a celebration. Austrian photographer Tatjana Schmidt did a new cool shot for them starring the two models Kardelen Ari and Sophie Gogl. Production and styling by Eva Zar and makeup & hair by Daniel Wutzl. And if you want to to join a get together with them watch out for the Spring/Summer Party on the 04.May including a sale with 30% off!
It’s almost unbelievable how quickly time goes by… It´s going to be 20 years since the first Sónar festival in Barcelona happened. During all those years this festival has presented a considerable amount of talented artists and bands. Also, Sónar has been able to expand its concept to other parts of our world – places like Sao Paolo, Tokyo, Osaka or Reykjavík. Like every year, in 2013 the festival program will be divided into a Day and Night part. The Line ups of Sónar festivals are always very colorful, so everyone can find his thing.
With celebrating their 20th anniversary, there will be some changes. After 19 years at the CCCB, the MACBA and the surrounding area, the festival is moving its daytime program to the Fira Montjuic area in Placa d’Espanya, an emblematic location in the city. The 4 stage concept of SonarVillage, SonarHall, SonarDôme and SonarComplex will be kept – furthermore, the capacity of all places will be increased! Plus, this new location is significantly nearer to Sónar by Night (its place remains the same). With the festival’s shuttle buses, you can get from one place to another in about 10 minutes! More about location & maps here.
Sónar+D. – another exciting change!
Sónar+D represents the evolution of the festival’s professional and new media areas, which represents a series of activities based around the same central theme: making the relationship between creativity, technology, mobility, innovation and business more visible and accessible. Sónar+D platform will offer workshops and hackathons, interactive installations, product demos and presentations, services and entrepreneurial initiatives in the field of creativity, technology and music. Attendees will also have a chance to participate on conferences and meetings with the biggest names of Sónar line up, as well as see live shows reflecting the culture of innovation through the use of new interactive devices. More about Sónar+D here.
Sónar is special. Sónar is something more than other summer festivals. Personally, I think one of the reasons for this incredible festival experience is because it’s in Barcelona. There is nothing better than besides enjoying good music to explore the beauty of this city as well. And relaxing or dancing on beaches is just another bonus. So, come & celebrate with Sónar its anniversary. You won’t regret.
