we love handmade Magazine #1
Culture
Handgemachtes liebt man eben.
We love handmade – Was hat eure Liebe zu “handmade ausgelöst?”

When I´m not naked
Photography“My generation is definitely a nostalgic one and I think now that we are entering the real world and it’s not the prettiest picture, we long for the simple times of being a kid in the 90′s, watching cartoons and playing games all day.” reckons Jackie Gasc, founder of the When I´m not naked blog.
And she adds:”We don’t want to do anything unless it’s fun and instantly gratifying – just like how we acted as children in the 90s.” Well, it is so much fun to scroll down her blog and look at those stylish kids in riot. So we spoke to Jackie about what fascinates her most about blogging and what keeps her going, the most crazy thing she has ever done and the best decision she took in life so far…
Tell us something important about yourself?
I just graduated from college! I now have a B.F.A. in fashion marketing from Savannah College of Art and Design.
What are the things that fascinate you most about blogging? The reason that keeps you going?
The fact that I have readers is definitely what keeps me going. Knowing that people are interested in what I’m doing compels me to keep them updated.
Also on your blog “When I´m not naked” it is visible that the 90´s are back. Why do you think there is this revival? Usually clothes always also tell something about where we stand as a society and it is usually the youth calling for a new direction. So maybe less thinking about career, studies, life plans and back to the free spirit of the Nineties?
My generation is definitely a nostalgic one and I think now that we are entering the real world and it’s not the prettiest picture, we long for the simple times of being a kid in the 90′s, watching cartoons and playing games all day. I agree, we definitely aren’t taking the straight and narrow path that generations before us took. We don’t want to do anything unless it’s fun and instantly gratifying – just like how we acted as children in the 90s. In several ways we are refusing to grow up, and since we account for a large amount of spending power marketers are having to change to cater to us. We don’t want to live the lives our parents had, so we won’t.
Besides your blog, you are also doing interviews and write articles for other fashion blogs/ magazines. Who is on your top list of people that you would love to interview – someone that inspires you with what she/he does?
I’d love to interview Sky Ferreira. Every time I see one of her interviews I learn something surprising. I like that she seems very laid back and doesn’t fake smiles like most pop stars do. I really love her style in general and can’t get enough of her.
The most crazy thing you have ever done?
I’ve been doing a lot of urban climbing lately – hanging out on roofs and other high places that weren’t intended for girls to play on. It’s dangerous but the view is always worth it.
5 things you cannot live without?
I’m super into minimalism lately so this is something I ask myself regularly: my macbook, a film camera, film, a backpack and water.
The best decision you took so far in life?
Interning with CollegeFashionista. Not only did I make amazing connections, it helped me build a strong portfolio and become a better writer/photographer.

FESCH’, press & beer
EventsWhat a nice warm-up for the upcoming Fesch´markt where the Ottakringer Brauerei will be transformed again into a hall for lovers of independent creative design and creative producers. In a welcoming and homely atmosphere I started my first attempt on a small DIY workshop. Lovely Anja Schober from heartware and my boyfriend (haha… as I totally messed it up) made a beautiful handmade knitted chain. I am really proud of him. And thanks also to Karina Mendreczky from the Girls of Paper Workshop – I am now a happy owner of a selfmade colorful notepad. Kudos to Harry at the guitar, who entertained with his nice sounds and to the sweet girls Johanna and Victoria from blatt&blüte for serving their delicious homemade cakes and cookies. So we are looking forward to this weekend – let´s get fesch!
You have the chance to win a Fesch`bag - filled with cute goodies, please just drop an empty or lovely mail to contact@c-heads.com and maybe you are the lucky winner. (ends: 20.11.2012)

I ♥ electru.de
CultureI <3 electru is one of the German blogs that you should really know. Berlin based Thang Dai, who is behind this project writes about everything he likes… and yeah-us too! You can find “sex for your ears”, “Fashion ‘n’ Style” and beautiful selected “eye candies” from all over the world. It is certainly worth to check out his site and be inspired…
Describe yourself with 3 words…
bon vivant, moody and sometimes ordinary. (oh, more than three)
I <3 electru is a blog about popculture, photography, fashion, sex and lovely music. I usually ask the question to people : what are the 5 things that they cannot live without. Would it be those things for you?
A very good and tough question. I can’t live without: [ placeholder ]
How do you choose the content for your site?
Browsing through my feed reader, taking time for reader suggestions, looking for some new stuff in my favorite flickr groups, tumblr around or searching on my favorite sources like “if you leave”.
What fascinates and excites you the most about blogging?
The contact with other bloggers, but especially with artists, photographer, filmer or talented new musicians – and also to agencies, who are desperately trying to place their clients on my blog for free. The same shit as every day.
Do you also have any critical view about the whole blogging scene?
I really don’t like the not linking culture in the blogosphere and not mentioning of the original sources. also the lame double postings on plattforms like DYT, just for some sucking blog rankings.
And how do you deal with critics from your readers?
Which critical comments? I ignore and delete them all. ;-) just a joke. Most of the critics are posted under sponsored posts, that’s sad but I try to handle it by explaining my point of view on advertorials.
How much of the “real Thang Dai” is on I <3 electru?
One fuckin’ hundred percent.
One thing that really catched my attention on your site is that you also show your own images from events and places you have been to and that were taken with an analogue camera. I find that pretty cool especially in a time where no one seems to have time for anything anymore – and much less to be waiting for developing images. Of course now there are a lot of people especially in the arts field going back to the analogue way. How come you still photograph a lot analogue also for private pleasure?
It’s a passion. A real love. I’m just doing it the good old-fashioned way, because of the fascinating and mostly surprising results with different cameras and different films. It feels a little bit like puzzling by tryal and error. Furthermore I love the quiet noise in analogue portraits.
What inspires you for your work and for your life?
All the people, who inspire me. It could be everyone.
At the moment you divide your life between Berlin and Wiesbaden. Berlin is so hyped at the moment. Quite rightly in your opinion? And why?
Yes, for me in person it is. The multicultural society with its various types of people, the very different hoods, crazy arty farty exhibitions, exploding music scene with his concerts, tons of bars, clubs and open airs, varying food possibilities for all tastes – all of these aspects are making Berlin worth living.
In 5 years you want to…
…settle down in life and stop acting like a fool in some situations.
The essence of life is…
…is to live, find inner peace and realize the own dreams.

Broken Cookies
CultureWe just love the lovely and hip images, artwork, fashion and thoughts on the blog Broken Cookies. You can easily get caught up browsing and immersing for hours into the creative world of Sabinna and David. So now we had the pleasure to ask them a few questions – and Sabinna absolutely enchanted us with her beautiful illustration she did especially for C-Heads…
| What´s with the name “Broken Cookies”? Well, when we thought about a name for our blog, we wanted it to describe us. As we are broken and we really love cookies, “Broken Cookies” turned out to be the prefect choice.
Sabinna you are attending the Central St. Martin´s in London- tell us about your personal impression of it. Is it really as cool as everyone thinks? :) |
It is unbelievable how much creativity is going on in all these heads. It is a pleasure watching everyone developing their ideas and to learn from each other. So I guess the answer would be: yeah, it is actually as cool as everyone thinks :)
Vienna is not quite a fashion capital compared to London and other cities- what do you think is the reason that things in Austria are developing slower? |
Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In a place that we call home, with a lot of new inspirations, ideas and love of course. :) 5 things you cannot live without Your fashion tip for 2012? Any last words to our readers…? Many thanks for your time:) |

Blog Club Party FEEL MY BICEP presents THE XMAS LOCKDOWN
CultureEventsWanna try something different? The formula of FEEL MY BICEP is very simple. Come down and see – they are not releasing the full line-up, so to find out you gotta get down in that basement.
First: Feel my Bicep is an electronic music blog. “Andy Ferguson and Matthew McBriar launched it in 2009 and its influence now extends far beyond the blogging sphere. Ferguson and McBriar have built a mini empire and as well as DJing they have a T-shirt range and have made remixes for record labels including Throne of Blood and Wolf Music – so it seemed like a natural progression to throw their own regular party too. With successful FMB shindigs at both The Camp in Old Street and the Dalston Superstore, the Bicep boys earned a monthly residency at Plastic People, the first of which is a resounding success. ‘I think it helps that the crowd is really open minded,’ says Ferguson. ‘They’ve come down to listen to something different from what you might expect at your average club night.’ The school-night slot sorts the real heads from the club tourists, leaving a writhing mass of seasoned discoites, label bosses and DJs, all eager to hear the freshest club sounds and classic gems when they’re not networking at the bar.
In contrast with the hyper-futuristic world that blogs exist in, however, FMB’s night harks back to the days before the internet was an everyday necessity. ‘What we are trying to do is steeped in the tradition of the US club scene back in the late ’80s and early ’90s. It’s an extension of our love and respect for an era that we missed out on,’ he continues. ‘It’s very much a rough and ready, anything goes vibe.’ The club flyers are little more than a photocopied black-and-white sheet of paper (remember those?) with the website and date that you can pull off at the bottom to keep.”

Nike & Sarah “This is Jane Wayne”
Culture
A blogzine that you stumble over and you get caught by! That´s the way it is with “this is jane wayne“. Nike & Sarah are the people behind this project and they are writing about anything and everything. What bothers them, what the world deals with, what they like and dislike and lots more. It´s just wonderful to read! We are very pleased to ask a few questions to them.
So passiert bei “this is jane wayne”.
Hello dear Nike & Sarah! How are you & what are you up to at the moment?
Sarah: We’re fine & you? I was just talking on the phone with a friend from home for ages. You’ve got to stay on top of your loved ones latest news, don’t you?
Nike: I sit in my bed when really I should be sleeping. It’s quite late already but I imagine the full moon tortures me.
Haha great! Since when do “This is Jane Wayne” exist?
For nearly a year.
How did the two of you get together for this project?
Nike: We know each other from when we were in the 5th form at school. After uni we both didn’t quite know what to do as we didn’t know what was gonna happen to us. For some time I even thought about continuing to study. Medicine, physics or something completely different. Ever since we can remember we loved nothing more than writing. So we got together & are now writing together for Jane Wayne.
Sarah: It was the obvious thing to do. Two friends studying journalism independently off each other and share their passion for a project of their hearts for almost a year.
Haha okay! Seit wann gibt es eigentlich “This is Jane Wayne”?

What are the nice things on blogging & writing?
Nike: When you blog. You can edit texts close to your heart when there is hardly any other media appropriate. Everything that comes out of your head fits there. Writing makes you free, even more than screaming.
Sarah: It just doesn’t run as anonymous as with classic media. There is lots of personality behind the texts & the reader can identify himself with it in daily life.
What are the bad aspects?
Nike: The bad thing with writing is that you make yourself very vulnerable because there is so much of yourself in every text. You can’t answer if you get misinterpreted or if you used unusual language/wording.
Sarah: These days blogging can be classified as a job. Many good writers are earning some extra money with it. But even so blogging is often not taken seriously & not enough appreciated. That’s a shame as there is a lot of work behind it.
How much time do you invest in blogging?
Many hours of the day.
Was die schlechten?

I read quite a few of your blogs & like your personal style & quality very much. What do you like writing about the most?
Nike: Unfortunately I love to moan. But my heart is very much with music as well. I love to write free texts about the subject “life”, as there are no real facts. There is no right & wrong.
Sarah: I like it to address the nice things. Of course this might seem plain sometimes but you also got to have the option to escape to dreamland from time to time. I still don’t ever want to lose the critical view on things & see everything great through pink glasses. But still. The nice things in life get often left behind.
You both studied fashion / journalism. Was it always your dream to do something in this direction?
Nike: No. I always wanted to write, but I never thought I would be able to earn money with it. Every so often I felt myself drawn towards natural science but at some point I wanted to study photography as well as psychology. Deep in my heart I wanted to work in a laboratory while studying journalism or invest my time in studying medicine. I’m a chronically doubtful person. it wouldn’t matter what I decide on. I’d miss the other things anyway. It’s not long ago that I even thought about astronomy. It’s terrible that one human alone can’t keep all these things in his head. I do however think that I’m on the right way now.
Sarah: I always wanted to write and wanted to write for an economical magazine or a daily newspaper. But while studying you get to know so many new things and there came the point when I realised that I might have got caught up in something. These days I live my dream & can’t even imagine to analyse accounts or explain financial economics.

Berlin, Berlin! Most of the time you only hear good things about this city. Constantly changing & much hype in the creative scene. Is this true? And just how much Berlin is reflected in “This is Jane Wayne”?
Nike: I love Berlin. But I suppose everyone that lives here does. It’s difficult to talk about a hype in the creative scene when you’re involved in it yourself. Everyone can be what they like here. It’s dirty & green at the same time. I can’t find anything bad with this city. There is just as much Berlin in Jane Wayne as there is in us. I’m certainly not a “Berliner”. I just live here. But I like living here a lot.
Your favourite place in Berlin?
Nike: Home of course. Everything else would be sad.
Sarah: Apart from home there are a lot of nice places that are mood lifting: a pizza in “Il Casolare”, a wheat beer in “Berliner Biergarten Prater” or just a nice afternoon in Kreuzberg on the riverbank.
Which other towns/cities do you like & why?
Our home town of “Korschenbroich” is a good one. The region around the river rhine is wonderful & grounded. The people there make this place very comfortable. Some call it primitive. We call it “heartwarming”.
Berlin, Berlin! Und wie viel Berlin steckt in “This is Jane Wayne”?
Euer Lieblingsplatz in Berlin?

Do you read other blogs/ online magazines? If so, which ones?
Nike: What a question. There are so so many. If I was to name a few. I would do wrong to all those I didn’t name. But I like Amy&Pink, Castor&Pollux and Dragstripgirl a lot. There are so many great blogs to look at, even international ones. But that would be to much. I like Clairette a lot as she has very critical & thorough views despite her young age.
There are more & more blogs & you somehow get the feeling as if there were more & more young people that are blogging. Do you see it the same way & what’s your take on it?
It is a normal process that many people are fearsome of. Most of the bloggers blog about themselves. Ever since facebook and all the others are on the market. It seems to be within people to do that. But in all honesty. There’s a glimpse of it in all of us. You just have to find a healthy balance. Sometimes even we close our eyes out of fear that young people live more for the camera than for themselves.
What makes “This is Jane Wayne” special?
We often get confused for being fashion blogs even though we prefer to see ourselves as allrounders. We don’t want to see things from only one perspective but create a mix out of all sorts of things of daily life. Like a mirror of all things young people – mostly girls – are interested in. Music & fashion but also photography and all sorts. Everything with a personal note but still with background & thought.
Was macht “This is Jane Wayne” besonders? Einen Spiegel all dessen, was junge Menschen, vornehmlich Mädchen, interessiert.

Which question should I have asked you?
Sarah: Everything ok, we’re comfortable.
Nike: Maybe “Who are you going to elect on sunday?” Then I would have had to make a decision as I really can’t decide this time round.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years time?
Nike: I’ll probably still sit in the kitchen with my flatmate & ask her for cigarettes as I’m not interested in a well paid job that puts my stubborn head in the right direction. And I’ll probably be jealous of all my clever friends then that learned to say yes.
Sarah: Puh, I think that’s hard to predict as our job is so dynamic. But I’d wish it’d be something with Nike. Maybe somewhere in the world, but certainly still with our fingers on the keyboard.
Last but not least – 7 things you cannot live without?
Nike: I can’t live without… my loved ones. Cigarettes & concerts. Pen & paper. My rocking chair & books.
Sarah: I’d be lost without my iphone. It’s got gps, is the channel to my friends & family & entertains. But apart from that there are of course: music, my favourite magazines, the backpacking rucksack, Avocados, Capri Sun and yes unfortunately, cigarettes.
Many thanks for your time Sarah & Nike!

MusicC-Heads presents the 2 nd C-HEADS PODCAST!
Last time I gave you my word, that our musical sessions won’t be just about one genre. I keep my word, so I asked a very special artist from Berlin – Giuseppe Marchegiano aka Hubble, for mixing this ambient session. Hope you will enjoy it!
Hubble @ Goa Club (C-heads podcast #2) by C-heads Podcast
Hello Hubble! Thanks for your time for mixing #2 C-Heads podcast and to give this interview. How are you today?
-Hey, thanks to you for inviting me here. It‘s always a good day when I got to sleep 7, 8 hours the night before. Sleep is commercial but I love it so much!
Seems like you are real artist who moves from one place to another and is still looking for new ones :-) You moved across Europe from native Sardinia and as I know, at first to Ibiza. Tell us, why?
-Well, i dont have such a busy calendar, I am not so popular, even if I have been doing what I do since 1990. I like to enjoy my city, family, friends, partying there and when I have the chance to play somewhere I ‘m always very excited as if it would be my first time. Fortunately I am not into those mechanics of star dj s that are living 50% of life between flying and living in hotels. Maybe you miss out on really getting to know the people and you dont get to really see the places you visit. It is just a job then. But music makes all of this special of course. I moved to Ibiza because I had the chance to play as a resident DJ for two seasons in a beautiful bar of a friend. I had a fantastic experience, hard sometimes, because the reality of Ibiza is not so magic as the nature of the island is. It is difficult to discover or find good music. One of my favourite clubs there for sure is the Underground, otherwise I always choose places where friends are playing. I still sometimes visit the island, as I have friends there that I miss and I love to see. Probably in summer 2011 we will make something as Club Mio there.
How were parties on Ibiza when you lived there? I’m asking, because personally, I connect Ibiza with “pure music industry”. Is it even possible to find some underground/no commercial parties there?
-I would say “pure drugs industry“ and yes, as I said before, if you are living there you can also have great privat parties. To enjoy the beautiful beaches and some little villages in the countryside,- that for me is the right spirit to live today on this island. And if you attend some small parties with producers or musicians you like then you can have a good time.
Anyway, making music more commercial and parties for tourists, that could be one of the problems in Berlin (where you are living now), don’t you think?
-Berlin is magic because you can have thousands and thousands of parties every week. With no limits regards music, from techno to metal to pop to jazz to rock. In the most famous clubs, as everybody knows, now 70%, 80% of visitors are tourists.

Berlin is definitely the mecca of music now. Tell us, what is the magic of this city? Because I know lots and lots of artists who want to move there or already live there…
-People move to Berlin because you can have the freedom that you miss in other cities. There are no other cities like this in the world and if you arrive as a student or with different plans about your life it can happen that you start being a famous artist after 2,3 years.
And aren’t you afraid of the overcrowding of labels, artists, events and whatever in Berlin?
- I am only afraid about politics. Label, artists and events are always welcome. I am a little sad because in the last six years prices are growing so fast and also some politicians of the town closed down many clubs that were legendary.
Which city you would choose, if you had to leave?
- Berlin.
Ok, let’s talk about your great release on Archipel label. How was the collaboration with Pheek and the other guys from the label?
- Archipel has been one of my favorite labels since I was born. So when they decided to release my album it was like a dream come true. Pheek today is a special friend and I also have the chance to do some projects with him. I‘m always honoured when I can share my ideas with him. I love so many artists that are part of that label and just recently I have discovered the beautiful album of Marc Neyen.
I decided to release only on vinyl in the future (except some releases which I have already planned some time ago to be digital). I love the concept to give away mp3s for free.
And do you plan any new releases for the upcoming year?
- I do. Also on a new label that I really love for the courage to still produce on vinyl. I decided to release only on vinyl in the future (except some releases which I have already planned some time ago to be released digital). I love the concept to give away mp3s for free. As we do with Morning Tools (Sleep is Commercial) where the quality of productions is important and can be downloaded for free.
Is there any artist with who you really would love to cooperate?
- I can tell that I love so much to produce alone or with close friends, I don´t love to be remixed or remix other´s work. The most important project I am doing at the moment is to work on one release for Joe Claussell’s label Sacred Rythm. When he said that he wants to produce me I was shocked. He is a legend to me. This year my favourite live act was Minilogue in Berghain (3 hours!).
Can you tell us the story of the mix? When/where it was recorded?
-This mix was the first part of my dj set at Goa club in Rome last November. It was a warm up for Adam Beyer, so I had the chance to play something more techno than usual. And I guess Goa has the best soundsystem I have ever heard in Italy. If you know me, you know that I can play always different sets, so for me it is impossible to answer to the question -what kind of music do you play? : – )
And would you like to add something for our readers and listeners?
- Follow your dreams.
Thank you very much!
-Thank you!
