Kerri ‘Kaoz’ Chandler one of deep house music’s originators, has been injecting soul into music since the early nineties. An ambassador of the natural and instinctive 4/4 beat, Kerri’s influences can be traced back to New Jersey growing up in a family of jazz musicians. His father being a respected deejay, provided Kerri with a rich background in the origins of soul, disco and the New York Underground Sound (known also as “Garage” music). Accompanying his father to the gigs, Kerri began playing records at the Rally Record Club in East Orange, New Jersey at the tender age of thirteen. Exposed to such musical creativity, it wasn’t long before Kerri found himself interested in production.

“When words fail, music speaks” liest man auf Len Faki´s facebook wall. Und seine Musik spricht laut. Mitten ins Tanzbein. Die Party Nächte mit ihm versprechen Begeisterung pur und Tanzen bis zum Morgengrauen. Len legt nun nämlich gerade wieder so richtig los, nachdem er in Asien seinen wohlverdienten Urlaub genossen hat. Und es geht Schlag auf Schlag – gigs in Tokyo, Frankreich, Deutschland, Italien, UK usw – und zu unserem Glück ist auch Wien wieder auf seiner Tourliste.
2013 wird überhaupt ein spannendes Jahr für alle Len Faki Fans – unter anderem sind in den nächsten drei Monaten Releases auf seinem Label Figure, sowie auf Drumcode und Ostgut Ton geplant. Und auf Figure gibt´s zudem, von uns ebenfalls emit Spannung erwartet, jede Menge Neuveröffentlichungen von alten und neuen Artists. So wird z.B. der deutsche DJ and producer Markus Suckut, in den nächsten Monaten sein Debut Album “DNA” auf Len´s Label veröffentlichen, welches dann ganz fett mit einer Release Party am 20. April im famosen Berghain in Berlin gefeiert wird. Und letzten Freitag hat der japanische Producer A.Mochi eine allerfeinste 3- Track “Figure43″ vinyl auf Figure released.
Besser könnte das Jahr gar nicht anfangen! Und wir fiebern auf jeden Fall schon jetzt Len Faki am 8.Februar 2013 in der Grellen Forelle entgegen – einer der wenigen Events, die uns auch in dieser kalten und grauen Jahreszeit aus dem Haus locken können…

Als Headliner ist der Niederländer KARMON gebucht der fantastische soulige House Produktionen auf Diynamic Music released. Am Main Floor erwarten euch ausserdem noch MET D’PHUNK und weiters DLV, der auch der CEO und Founder von den Discotales ist. Über die Höhen und Tiefen des Lebens; den Soundtrack schreiben für unvergessliche wilde Party Nächte. Pan-Pot können das! Die beiden Producer und Deejays Tassilo und Thomas sind sicher eines der erfolgreichsten Duos die Berlin zu bieten hat und bringen seit 2005 unermüdlich beeindruckende „Club-Bomben“ an den Start.Gerade ist die sechste Folge der „back to back“ Compilation-Serie des Berliner Club-Labels mobilee erschienen und steht voll und ganz im Zeichen von Pan-Pot. Hi guys and thanks a lot for your time. How are you and what are you currently up to? Thomas: We are in the middle of the “Back To Back” tour. It’s all good. Some of the promoters managed make a film screening possible in addition to the club. The rest of our time we spent mostly in the studio working on new tracks.
On “Back to Back Vol 6″ there is also a version with a over 16 censorship – I am curious – why is this? Tassilo: Good question! Probably because Thomas drops his trousers.
Thomas: Tassilo is smoking too much.
Tassilo: To be honest, there are different colors for the censorship. I think green, red and blue. And since our cover is mainly black and blue, to fit only the FSK 16 badges …. for that is blue.
I see! Your personal favorite scene from “Pan-Pot The Documentary”? Thomas: Oh, there are too many to mention. However I like the out-takes at the end.
Tassilo: For me I could look at the pictures of the Awakenings forever. That was such a cool event.
Hallo ihr Beiden! Vielen Dank dass ihr kurz Zeit findet! Wie geht´s euch und wo seid ihr gerade? Thomas: Im Moment befinden wir uns mitten in der Tour für das “Back To Back” Album. Es ist schön zu sehen, dass diese Idee bisher sehr gut angenommen wurde und einige Veranstalter zusätzlich zum Club Gig eine Filmvorführung auf die Beine stellen konnten. Unsere übrige Zeit verbringen wir hauptsächlich im Studio, wo wir gerade an neuen Tracks arbeiten.
Auf “Back To Back Vol. 6″ gibt es auch eine Version mit FSK 16. Neugierigerweise – warum? Tassilo: Gute Frage! Wahrscheinlich nicht ganz jugendfrei, weil Thomas seine Hose runter lässt. :) Thomas: Und Tassilo zu viel raucht. :)) Tassilo: Um ehrlich zu sein, es gibt ja unterschiedliche Farben bei den FSKs. Ich glaube Grün, Rot und Blau. Und da unser Cover nunmal hauptsächlich Schwarz und Blau enthält, passte dazu nur das FSK 16 Abzeichen….das ist nämlich Blau :)
Verstehe.:) Eure persönliche Lieblingsszene aus “Pan-Pot The Documentary!”? Thomas: Oje da gibt es zu viele als dass man wirklich eine Lieblingsszene haben könnte. Mit gefallen die Out-Takes am Schluss mit am besten. Tassilo: Und die Bilder vom Awakenings könnte ich mir immer anschauen. Das war ein Wahnsinns-Event.
2008 you replied us to the question “5 things you can not live without” the following: internet, airplane, laptop, decks & becks. Are there still the same things or has it changed?
Tassilo: Well, today I would say more like: family and friends, good food, sports and the chance to make a bunch of technical stuff.
Thomas: X-Box, friends, parties, finally some sun, and of course music.
What makes a really good event for you?
Thomas: the right crowd, good sound-system and all of our friends.
Tassilo: I think most important is that the organizers of the parties are doing it because of passion for making music and not just because he only wants to make cash. Of course everyone should earn their money, but it’s best when there is ambition behind it.
You have given so many interviews already, which question would you like to get asked of me? And what would be the answer?
Thomas: Would be cool to interview each other, so me Tassilo and Tassilo me.
Tassilo: We have never given the question of the perfect woman? So here you go: “What should be your perfect girlfriend?” Once I have the answer, you are the first to know.
2008 habt ihr uns auf die Frage “5 Dinge ohne die ihr nicht leben könnt” folgendes geantwortet: Internet, Flugzeug, Laptop, decks & becks. Sind es heute noch immer die gleichen Dinge oder hat sich doch was geändert? Tassilo: Naja ich würde es heute eher so ausdrücken: Familie und Freunde, leckeres Essen, die Möglichkeit Sport zu machen und einen Haufen Technik Kram :) Thomas: X-Box, Freunde, Partys, endlich mal wieder Sonne und natürlich Musik.
Was macht für euch eine richtig gute Veranstaltung aus? Thomas: die richtige Crowd, gute Anlage und möglichst viele unserer Freunde mit dabei. Tassilo: Ich finde am wichtigsten ist, dass der Veranstalter seine Partys aus Leidenschaft zur Musik macht und nicht nur weil er Kohle scheffeln will. Natürlich soll jeder sein Geld verdienen, aber am besten ist das immer noch wenn Ambition dahinter steckt.
Ihr habt schon so zahlreiche Interviews gegeben- welche Frage würdet ihr gerne von mir gestellt bekommen? Und was wäre die Antwort darauf? Thomas: Wir könnten uns ja mal gegenseitig interviewen, also Tassilo mich und ich Tassilo. Tassilo: Wir haben noch nie die Frage nach der perfekten Frau bekommen? Also here you go: “Wie muss eure perfekte Freundin / Frau sein?” Sobald ich die Antwort habe, seid ihr die ersten, die das erfahren :)
Ok :) You have been already few times to Vienna, and you are coming back to perform a gig the 27thApril at “Grelle Forelle”. What do you actually like about Vienna people? Thomas: The Vienna people who we know are very open hearted and like to make a big party.
Tassilo: Vienna is an incredibly beautiful city with a very special flair. I am a native of Chiemsee and studied in Austria for a while and I was very often in Vienna. I’ve always felt comfortable there. The people are very special and likeable. And as Thomas has already said: They can party hard:)
Is there anything in peticular you are looking forward to this time ? Tassilo: We haven´t been to Vienna for a while and we are looking forward to this. This time we are excited to check out “Grelle Forelle” for the first time. We have many friends, we can hang out and eat delicious Wiener Schnitzel
Thomas: And if you turn up too, we look forward to seeing you!
Thank you! So what can visitors can expect from your set on 27.04? Tassilo: I think the question is always difficult. What do YOU expect?
Thomas: It will be banging and be “pan and pottig”!

Ihr wart ja schon etliche Male hier bei uns in Wien und beehrt am 27.04 mit einem Gig die Grelle Forelle. Was mögt ihr an den Wienern eigentlich besonders? Thomas: die Wiener, die wir kennen, sind sehr offenherzig und ganz große Feierer. Tassilo: Wien ist eine unglaublich schöne Stadt mit einem sehr besonderen Flair. Ich bin ja gebürtiger Chiemsee und habe in Österreich eine Weile studiert und war unter anderem auch schon sehr oft in Wien. Ich hab mich dort immer wohl gefühlt. Der Wiener an sich ist sehr speziell und eigen, was irgendwie sympathisch ist. Und wie Thomas schon gesagt hat: Der Wiener feiert gscheid :)
Und gibt es irgendetwas worauf ihr euch diesmal schon besonders freut? Tassilo: Wir waren schon lange nicht mehr in Wien und freuen uns immer darauf. Dieses Mal vor allem einen neuen Club kennen zu lernen denn in der Grellen Forelle waren wir noch nicht. Ausserdem gibt’s so viele Freunde und Bekannte dort mit denen man ein lecker Wiener Schnitzerl essen gehen kann :) Thomas: Und wenn du auch kommst freuen wir uns auf dich! :)

About expectations he is probably right – there are quite a few clever sayings on this topic. And no one knows the ropes completely anyway when listening to the words of Brian Brewster aka Aquarius Heaven. At least this is how I feel. Well, the best thing for us to do is to focus on his music. So there is his EP ”Can´t Buy Love” (Wolf + Lamb) which has truly caused a sensation.
And definitely also because of the outlandish creative video, combined with subtle eroticism and the play of light and shade. By the way, it was shot at the Kater Holzig – a Berlin club with demolishing-charm. And then there is his reggae and dancehall past, that can be heard in all of his work and this is one of his great strengths. Distinctive unique and haunting, minimalistic and meaningful vocals. Next Saturday he will rock the Grelle Forelle – when it is time for the DISCO TALES CHAPTER 5.…Some stories need to be told! In this sense: You can pay sex, but you can´t buy love!
Mit den Erwartungen hat er wohl recht – da gibts schon schöne kluge Sprüche dazu. Und ganz genau kennt man sich sowieso nicht aus, wenn man den Worten von Brian Brewster aka Aquarius Heaven lauscht. Zumindest geht es mir so. Am besten fokusieren wir uns auf seine Musik. Da ist z.B. seine EP “Can´t Buy Love” (Wolf+Lamb) die richtig für Furore gesorgt hat. Und das durchaus auch wegen der eigenwillig kreativen Video-optik, unterschwellige Erotik gepaart mit düsteren Licht und Schattenspielen. Gedreht wurde übrigens im Kater Holzig – dem Berliner Club mit Abrisscharme. Da wäre auch noch seine Reggae- und Dancehall Vergangenheit, welche man in all seinen Werken hört- und das ist auch seine grosse Stärke. Unverkennbar und eindringlich, minimalistisch und dazu seine echten Vocals mit viel Sinn dahinter. Nächsten Samstag wird er die Grelle Forelle rocken – wenn es heisst DISCO TALES CHAPTER 5.. Great ;) Before you did Reggae music- where does your love for electronic music come from?
I always had love for the music …it´s just that now is the time for electronic music in my time line.
In an interview you said that you “hate music and the world would be a better place without it” – is this not a contradiction to you being a musician?
I was totally on k at this time and my brains was on a lil trip …the world lights would be off by now if we didn’t have music and i mean in all the colours (musically speaking).
You are coming to Vienna´s new it-club “Grelle Forelle” in April. What have you heard about the club so far?
Actually I don’t know the club – i did my little check up and theres been a lot of good feedback. So i kind of excited to how much fun we can have.
And what are your associations when hearing Vienna? What are you most looking forward to?
I know Vienna – I also know they like good music overthere … makes me think about a small version of Berlin.
Where do you see yourself in a couple of years?
Still doing that music I love and sharing it with the world.

Also zugegebenermassen ist uns manchmal etwas langweilig geworden in letzter Zeit. Fortgeh technisch meinen wir. Schuld daran ist natürlich erstmal – wie soll es anders sein – die furchtbare Kälte. Da ist die Vorstellung einer warmen Wohnung, einer kuscheligen Couch und einem Movieabend de luxe einfach immer viel schöner. Aber auch weil uns irgendwie der Sound in letzter Zeit teilweise zu viel lascher Einheitsbrei geworden ist – oder sagen wir – zu viel House (wobei wir das eigentlich richtig dolle mögen) – alles in allem zu blass. Und ja! Manchmal da wollen wir halt doch einfach einen DJ der richtig gscheid Gas gibt. Mit ekstatischen Techno, fesselnd und mitreißend. Wie kaum ein anderer schafft dies Len Faki mit seinen extrem energie geladenen Sets. Stillhalten unmöglich! Seit Len 2003 nach Berlin gezogen ist, ist dann sowieso kein Stein mehr auf den anderen geblieben. Unzählige Veröffentlichungen von Perlen wie „Rainbow Delta“ oder „My Black Sheep“ – sowie der Start des Labels “Len-Series” lassen seine Fangemeinde immer grösser werden. Len Faki ist übrigens auch Resident-DJ im Berliner Club Berghain. Wo wir also nächste Woche sicher nicht couchen werden ist folgender Termin – bitte rot anstreichen:
So, we admit freely that we have become a bit boring lately. We mean the party- thing. First we have to blame it on the terrible cold outside. The imagination of a warm apartment, cozy bed and deluxe movie night just keeps getting more beautiful. But also because somehow the sound become the same old thing lately. Or should we say – too much house (don´t get us wrong- we love house) – all in all too lax. And yes! Sometimes we just want a DJ to the right who put one’s foot to the floor. With ecstatic techno, captivating and engaging. Like no one else, Len Faki is creating this amazing atmosphere and is enchanting us with his extremely energetic sets. Impossible to keep still! Since 2003, Len moved to Berlin, is not one stone remained on another. Numerous publications of pearls as “Rainbow Delta” or “My Black Sheep” – and and the launch of the label “Len” Series his fanbase gets bigger and bigger.
