The Prometheus myth revolves around his gifting of fire to mankind and Prometheus’ endless suffering as penance for this treachery against the gods. This gift of fire both uplifted mortals and gave them the tools to their own destruction.
That story of fleeting glory in the face of probable demise inspired this tune. From the lyrics & melody to ylxr’s brilliant production, I wanted to capture flame, embracing exhilaration and danger until it can’t be held any longer. The goal when I write is to journey the full gradient of a moment. Total immersion into desire, danger, and vulnerability.
about the artist:
Fellow western New York resident ylxr is my main collaborator and a great friend. Our latest tune ‘Descent’ was also released via Majestic Casual and hit the 1.5 million overall streams a few months ago. His brilliance is on par with anyone on the cutting edge of production. The foundation of our collaborative relationship is built on respect for each other personally as well as professionally. Being two of the only people creating this type of music in our area forces us to challenge each other to grow as artists.
My writing has drawn from a deeper connection to the girl who’s been the muse for all my songs.
future plans:
Working heavily with ylxr and others on more releases for the summer and fall, including the 0:01 EP, a follow up to the 0:00 EP. Featured collaborations with stwo, Sango, and Sam Obey on the horizon as well.
