“Self in Skin”

I am not scared of my skin, I am scared in my skin.
37 years in this skin and I am just getting to know her. Our first date.
The seamless state from sweat to sea.

A life behind the scenes, a life behind the lens, a life behind static. Life as I know it has changed.
Let me out of this skin, and into the deep blue. Let me thrive on the anxious. Thrive on the chills.
Dream between the sets. Centering my thoughts on the horizon as I let the wind take my breath.

When I am most vulnerable, most cautious, most alive. Am I human or something else with a heartbeat.
I am right where I am supposed to be. Here is where I am the most scared. Here I allow growth.

This time I allow my skin to breath for me. Skin, guide me. Skin, teach me. Skin, listen to me.
The glass of the ocean gives my skin life. Release the scared, the fear. Forward.

mother earth – she is my classroom. skin you are my teacher. I am my most important self. YOU are your most important being. BE.
giving space for a new root system, we make the path sturdy. steady. grow.

not broken. working. cooling. warming. breathing. skin.
this change is monumental to us all. in us all. WE.
