Based in South London but with roots in west Africa as well, singer-songwriter Azul Kechi is gearing up for the release of her debut album, Celestial Love. Pulling from R&B stalwarts like Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill, the Nigerian-Brit makes no bones about what she likes in a record. Lips, hips, and guitars are all prevalent on “No Drama,” thanks to the Philadelphia-based production team Eraserhood Sound, whose members have long had roots in the R&B capital’s indie music scene.

“No Drama” isn’t revolutionary, yet it’s a solid track, and most importantly, it’s proof that Kechi is making R&B music the way it’s supposed to be made – with real drums, amped guitars, and a soulful vocal performance.

“‘No Drama’ is my response to all the crazy things life can throw at you. Keeping peace of mind is so important to me, and it’s pretty damn hard to stay sane in this thing we call life. As I say in the song, ‘protecting my peace, never take that for granted,’ It’s my daily mantra and something I try to live by.”
