A Summer with Milky Chance, Passion, and a Cover by Dua Lipa

Passion, to me, is the thing you do — not because you have to, but because you deeply want to. It’s the urge to create, to move, to express something that won’t let you rest until it’s real. And when Milky Chance drop a track called “Passion,” they don’t hold back. It’s vibrant, cheeky, and unapologetically playful — the kind of song that doesn’t ask for permission to take over your summer. Just watch the video – you’ll get it. It’s not just a song, it’s a whole vibe.

The German duo — childhood friends Clemens Rehbein and Philipp Dausch — have been building their own musical universe since their teenage days in Kassel. What started as a quiet revolution with “Stolen Dance” turned into a global presence, carried by genre-blending sounds and a certain unshakeable ease. But if you thought Milky Chance were still clinging to that first wave of success, think again.

Their latest single “Passion” is a colorful trip through flirtation and fantasy — driven by pulsing guitars, unexpected hooks, and lyrics that bounce between surreal and seductive. It’s the soundtrack to warm skin, loud nights, and everything that feels a little too good to be true. The accompanying video, directed by Anthony Molina, pulls you into a dreamlike world full of overripe fruit, playful symbolism, and the kind of surreal imagery that feels both silly and striking. It’s art that doesn’t take itself too seriously — and that’s exactly the point. Milky Chance have never been too concerned with definitions — even their band name came from a place of spontaneity. “I came up with the name when I was younger. There isn’t a connection between a name and the project. It doesn’t have a meaning. It’s just random,” Clemens once said in an interview. And maybe that’s part of their charm: not everything has to be explained. Some things just work — by feel, by instinct, by chance.

And just when you thought that track couldn’t get more buzz, Dua Lipa stepped in. At her recent Munich tour stop, she surprised the crowd by performing a stripped-down version of “Stolen Dance” — a tribute that felt as unexpected as it was powerful. Her voice wrapped itself around the song’s nostalgic core, and for a few minutes, the arena pulsed with a memory reborn. We’ve followed Dua Lipa since her early days, and watching her perform “Stolen Dance” on stage, we could feel how special that moment must have been for Milky Chance — to see a song so tied to their beginning echoed back by another artist, in front of thousands.

It’s moments like these — spontaneous, joyful, full of mutual respect — that remind us what music does best: connect across time, place, and sound. Whether you’re dancing barefoot to “Passion” or letting an old favorite hit you in a new way, Milky Chance seem to always find the perfect moment to reappear in our lives. Not louder, but brighter.

Watch Dua Lipa’s heartfelt “Stolen Dance” cover now here — and dive into “Passion” to feel the summer start from the inside out.

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
