I long for people with hearts of gold. Souls free of indifference — as innocent as the sun that sinks in golden hues, only to rise again the next morning. And like the sun, they carry with them the quiet promise of warmth, light, and renewal each day.
The analogue series by photographer Matthias Michler breathes with melancholy, longing, and at the same time, a sense of quiet peace. Katerina appears like a painting, bathed in the stillness of nature, carrying an aura of devotion to art, nature, and beauty itself.
“I photographed this series under the late August sun in the Schwanheimer Dunes in Frankfurt,” Matthias tells us. “Katarina was captured on medium format 6×7 with the Mamiya RB and on 6×6 with the Pentacon Six. For the 35mm shots, I used my Praktica MTL. My films included Kodak Portra 400, Kodak Tri-X 400, Kodak Color 200, and the vintage Orwo Wolfen NC 500. The latter has a special 70s look that I really love.”
