In psychology, the phrase it comes in waves often describes the rhythm of emotions — how they rise, crest, and fall, never constant, always moving. It’s the natural cycle of things: to build, to overflow, and to fade again. Like a wave, foaming and folding, finding its way before dissolving back into the endless ocean.
In the small, picturesque village of Colares, Portugal, nestled on the slopes of the Serra de Sintra and just moments from the sea, photographer Nicoline Aagesen aka My Camera My Rules and model Nikoline Høegh surrendered to that rhythm. Together, they let themselves fall into the waves — into the power of the water and the quiet beauty of the moment.
Nicoline Aagesen contributes a wonderful series to our newly released Volume 39 – which is a love letter to the simple joys, the human warmth, the in-between moments that often go unnoticed.
