How difficult it can be to find something good in the midst of darkness. Even when fog veils the sun, and the horizon slips away, like a whispered secret at dusk, we should never give up or lose our smile. Perhaps that’s the deeper message behind this wonderful series, starring gorgeous Tay, shot on a cold, gloomy, cloudy, and drizzly day in Sydney, Australia.

“Not every shoot goes to plan, but often you can create something special by just being in the moment,” photographer Steve McKee tells us, featuring an incredible photoshoot with natural beauty Holly Lou.

“No matter how early you rise, the sun won’t rise any earlier,” I read somewhere. The desire to control everything, to resolve issues as quickly as possible, and to carry an impatience of the heart often leads to many problems. Allowing things their own time, not rushing, and meditating on this can bring a sense of peace and clarity. Sometimes, taking your time can reveal solutions that would otherwise remain hidden.

In the realm of photography, spontaneous shoots often result in some of the most captivating images. This notion comes to life in the recent series captured by photographer Steve McKee, featuring the first-time model, Rebekah Duncan.

The air was stiflingly humid and heavy with the scent of eucalyptus emanating from the surrounding forest. In Steve McKee‘s latest series, first-time model Zee is featured seeking relief from the blistering heat of the day, to no avail. The images captured during the golden hour convey a natural sensuality, reminiscent of road trips on remote back roads and hot autumn nights.

“We had been wanting to shoot together for a long time, so when Georgie said she was visiting Sydney I was super excited to create these photos with her. Georgie found us a beautiful house at Bondi Beach. It was the perfect location for this relaxed shoot where we could just hang out and let Georgie do her thing. As we took these softly intimate images, the sun was streaming in through the garden windows and wrapping Georgie in a sensual, cinematic glow. It was a magical way to spend a winter’s morning.”

“It had been a long time since I had even picked up my camera. So I was really happy  – and actually very nervous – shooting with Toña Pou Amengual .” Steve McKee explains to us. “We wanted it to have fun, just hanging out at her apartment, and keep the photos real. Hair and make up? Not needed. Hair band on the wrist? Meh, who cares? Even Toña’s cheeky parrot “Kiwi” was a total diva and tried to be the star of the show. At least Toña didn’t try to eat my camera.”

“Spending and afternoon with Sophie a while ago was as unexpected as it was fun.” tells Sydney based photographer Steve McKee. “We didn’t plan on much, taking photos while Sophie was just hanging out and doing her thing in her amazing vintage-filled apartment.”
