“I guess there’s quite a dark side to me. It always comes out when I’m writing songs.”

I guess that´s what makes this music so interesting as well – this sort of dark melancholical note to it. Dark Green is a song out of the about to be released EP Deaf Heat by former Burberry model Marika Hackman. It will be released through Dirty Hit Records on the 14th of April.

‘Deaf Heat’ moves with an air of confidence yet also feels tender and vulnerable, anchored by the dark allure of Marika’s endlessly imaginative arrangements. From the haunting and beautiful lead track ‘Deep Green’ to the otherworldly harmonies of ‘Tongues’, each song uncovers an artist undaunted to challenge traditional conventions to create something that’s at once classic and contemporary.

Following a triumphant 2013, which saw included the release of two acclaimed EPs and tours across the UK, Europe and Australia, Marika now has her eyes firmly set on the future. Having already been named winner of the UK Blog Sound Of 2014 poll, this spring will see Marika Hackman heading back into the studio with Charlie Andrew to start work on her debut album as well as heading out to play the following UK shows:
