One of the world’s biggest hip hop stars of today, US rapper Schoolboy Q is about to perform in the Czech capital city Prague. The gig will take place on 14th May 2014 at the Roxy club. Kendrick Lamar’s collegue from Top Dawg Entertainment is coming to Europe in order to promote his latest album, Oxymoron which has been released in February 2014.
Before Schoolboy Q made it to international music headlines as a rapper, he “worked” as drug dealer. He wrote his first line some time around 2006 and three years later signed with the independent label Top Dawg Entertainment. Since then, he’s released two albums and collaborated with other superstars of US hip hop such as Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, Mac Miller. He was also nominated for the 2014 Grammy Award for co-producing Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’ album The Heist. Through his latest album Oxymoron Schoolboy Q tries to excuse his previous sins argumenting that all he’d ever done was for the good of his daughter. The album, co-produced by Pharell Williams amongst others, also deals with the history of Crips gang from 1969 to present.
Great news is also to find out that another hip hop star is coming to support Schoolboy Q, the Tennessee-born Isaiah Rashad. Having released his debut EP Cilvia Demo, Rashad was highlighted by the renowned US mag as one of the names to explode in 2014.
