“Chillwave never died. It just made some new friends.”

Perfectly in time for the start of the week we have discovered a cool new artist for you. With his EP Yeehai ( release on Mansions and Millions/ Worldwide: Apr 10, 2015) Jack Chosef feeds our desire for fresh music. As soon as you put it up you feel like you are just entering the coolest clothes shop or bar, where style is literally all over the place. But definitely not lacking depth either. A sound that catches you immediately. We spoke to the German musician about his EP, the inner life and feelings on songs and why he appears naked on the cover. And we are happy to provide the space for the exclusive premiere of “Track Your Mind”, the first rad single release out of Yeehai.

Hey Jack, tell us a bit about yourself. Where is your origin, where are you based now and besides being a drummer at the live shows of Sean Nicholas Savage, and releasing your own songs too, what else should we know about you?

Hey! I grew up in a valley in Eastgermany. It’s a quite conservative place, so we had to escape in the big city. Still try to acclimate here.

“Track your mind” is the first single out of your EP Yeehai. Great track! What does Yeehai mean? And the main inspiration for the album was girls and cars, right?

Yeehai is a friend from UK, I met him when I was on tour with Sean. We took the same nightbus, he came from a Tinder date in Brighton, it did not work out pretty well. And I think, I was quite tired when I answered the „inspired by“ question, I still like both of them though.

Why did you decide to appear naked on the cover?

My friend Moritz took the picture when we worked at the cabin of my grandparents. The rhododendron in the background is called Alfred, named after my great-grandfather. Moritz created the headless naked body with his computer. Computers are great.

What has been the feedback so far about it? Also from friends?

One friend said the letter „i“ of Yeehai would make my penis appearing longer, because everything is getting stretched. Don’t know.

How much of your inner life and feelings is in this EP?

There is probably too much of that in this EP, it could be less. It’s just boring to talk too much about inner life things. Popmusic got enough of it already.

Last song you were listening to that is not from you?

„New World Order“ – Mr. X&Mr. Y

The most important thing in life?

I like fruits in the morning.
