Sydney based singer and songwriter Rainbow Chan finally shares her “Spacings” record to the world. Coming from a classically-trained musician background the native Hong Kong talent shows off her ability for consistently playful and complex pop songs. She plays with the quirks of the Asian culture, garnished with her filigree, retro yet assertive voice.
“Spacings’ was written over the course of one year during which several things around me kept collapsing. I realised that I could not hold onto certain expectations and ideals anymore. All I could do was stand still and patiently watch the way things ebbed and flowed. But in accepting transience, I started to observe the beauty of the traces left behind. Indents, prints, hollows, and spaces that mark the presence of something that no longer is.”
