Chasing the sun.

Ellie has that certain something and feels like a fresh breeze of air. And I’m sure I am not the only one who thinks that. We chatted with the unique beauty and enjoyed her honest answers. Photographed by Sergio del Amo.

What do you like most about yourself?

I am so brave. I do things that people from where I am from would call unusual or rather crazy. I am a country girl from a really small city where you can hardly see a foreigner. I was born to a very conservative family who has stayed in the small city all their life and they would like to keep me inside Korea. But instead as you can see I am everywhere in the world. I am the black sheep of my family. And I am happy with that.

What makes you feel good?

Warm light tiny bulbs shining next to my bed at night, listening to people laughing at summer night, cold air blowing to my face on winter mornings.

And what makes you feel sad?

My mom and I stopped talking after I left my home. It’s been 3 years and I miss our good time sometimes.

Do you ever get shy in front of the camera?

I used to be very afraid of cameras because to me I looked so different on a picture than what I see in the mirror. I didn’t like myselfback then so I was afraid of confronting myself. But the more I confront myself, the more I got to love myself. The more I love myself, the more I could confront myself. Making photos is a very special ritual for me.

Favorite food?

Food is love and love is food. I eat everything.

Favorite book?

“Ask and it is given” by Esther Hicks & Jerry Hicks.

Favorite movie?

“Begin again”. I watched it more than 10 times. I can’t explain why. I just like the feeling that I get from the movie.

Where and with whom can we find you on a Saturday night?

Probably preparing some Korean food for my favorite people.

What do you expect from life?

More amazing photos, amazing people, amazing food. Only good things are coming.

And what is the most important thing in your life?

Flexibility. I will be where I want to be when I want to be with whom I want to be with.

Where do you see yourself in the future?

Literally, I see myself in Spain from December to May, in UK from June to August, in South Korea from October to November. Chasing the sun.
