“Isn´t it crazy how you can sort of get to know someone just by looking at them through the viewfinder?” Nico smiled while wondering about that. “When doing this series I wanted to capture that feeling I got when I first met Carmen. Her energy is out of this world. So happy and full of life.”

Photographer Nico Ponieman spent a whole day together with Carmen, with the main purpose of just having a good time. “Just like I do in every shoot, I sort of created a scene of a situation and then just started from there.” Like a first skillful stroke on a white canvas. But painted on 35mm instead. Taking pictures with an analog camera is way different than using a digital camera. Every time you press the button it feels more precious, you have to let go of the control to know the result immediately. And to trust your ability and vision to capture the right moment and angle. “I told Carmen to do whatever she felt like. When I saw something special, something that I felt was her true self, I took the picture.”

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
