Whether you’re at your high or feeling your absolute worst, pets always remain right by your side. London based photographer Jase Holzer shares a truly amazing series exclusive on C-Heads starring songwriter and model Kyd Nereida and her soul child the German Shepherd Cross Staffie Hoshi.
Model Kyd Nereida:
“My names Kyd, it´s a nickname I gave myself last year from when thyrdculturekyd was created about 8 years ago. I find myself wanting to be an artist/actor while doing my hustling in a few sectors such as presenting, working for a magazine and a fashion company as marketing, PR and creative directing/producing. I absolutely love it, it´s preparing me for who I want to become in the future. Hoshi is my soul child, my companion for this moment in time, I can’t even describe to you what he means to me but everyone and anyone who meets him, connects with him and feels his presence. I really wanted to get him involved in everything I do so I made it a part of my journey to give him a platform to be recognised by the world. I do this by getting him involved in my shoots and work life as much as possible. He is a big entity in what I do and I could not ever imagine my life without him. I love you Hoshi!”

“So when I rocked up at Kyds place in South London I had an idea that I wanted to capture something of her personality, her energy in our photographs, something real that represented her as a person beyond her physical beauty. I didn´t even know about Hoshi at the time and as a definite cat person myself I had a moment of terror when this horse of a dog came bounding down the corridor in the form of Hoshi! A more gentle beautiful soul you couldn’t wish to meet though and I realised quickly that the chance to shoot something real had revealed itself in the form of Kyds relationship with Hoshi and luckily he was easily persuaded to be a part of our editorial.
In today’s modern world, and especially the often lonely concrete jungle that is London, furry companions can be so important to keep you happy, on track and in good mental health and Kyd is one of the most inspiring high motivation people I’ve collaborated with so it was amazing to get to see behind the magicians curtain and capture part of what both her and Hoshi were about!”
