Valentina Gurian is a 24 years old girl from Venice, Italy who moved to London. Together with her workmate Mimi they strolled along the street around Soho, China town and Carnaby street. “We know each other for just two months, but when I saw her I knew I wanted to photograph her with my analog camera.
“One friend told me: Let´s buy a new red lipstick. And yeah, even if I am not so much into make-up and she is neither she continued: Girls always should wear something in red. Even if it’s just a small detail. You know, guys love red. She laughed loud. Since we were talking about red I started to notice that the red colour is literally everywhere in London. From subway to double-decker buses to catchy neon signs. So I decided to take Mimi around London to spot all the places that would give me the perfect atmosphere I was looking for these pictures; a mix between retro dinners, 50´s, pop neon signs from the strip clubs and the arcades in Soho aswell the colorful asian markets of China town, with the red color as the key element that links all the pictures together.” Mimi is wearing vintage clothes and sunglasses as she usually does and of course a red lipstick. All the pictures were shot with Valentina´s analogic Canon.
