No matter what era we’re in, there always seems to be a shortage of weird pop music.

That definitely rings true in 2018. Here to cut through the mood and minor keys is Madge. The LA-based indie pop artist has managed to find a sound that is incredibly unique, yet accessible. She’s an artist for artists, but also for the kids. Doing all of the writing and production herself, she’s found a way to run bubblegum far into left field, and seemingly without much effort. Today, she offers us a glimpse into what she calls “the Madge universe.” A sugary, yet slightly terrifying realm where her dear friend Alice resides.

“Alice herself is a stand alone figure in the Madge universe. Sexier, sillier. She might resurface in the future.”

“Like the song, the Alice vid is an intersection of humor and horror. The video is completely DIY – I made it all, start to finish. It’s a very raw version of me and my creativity, almost like pure brain vomit. At the same time it’s a total caricature. Alice herself is a stand alone figure in the Madge universe. Sexier, sillier. She might resurface in the future.”
