“I think everyone including myself was in a toxic past relationship before. You know that a certain person is not good for you and treating you the way you should be treated but you still can’t manage to distance yourself from that person. That’s not a nice situation and some people are stuck in this waaaay too long.” explains the young German singer and songwriter Amili about her new release “Maybe”. We wanted to know more from the young talent and found out who believed in her talent before herself, why she loves autumn and what character traits she likes in other people.

Hey Amilli, thanks for your time. After your sudden success with the track „Rarri“ do you feel a lot of pressure for the second release?

Not really, to be honest. I’m not gonna let myself put under any pressure and besides that I’ve got some songs already up my sleeve which I’m very looking forward to share :)

In your new song „Maybe“ you talk about a toxic past relationship. Is it a true self-experienced story? And if so, how did you initially realize it was toxic and how did you get out of it?

I think everyone including myself was in a toxic past relationship before. You know that a certain person is not good for you and treating you the way you should be treated but you still can’t manage to distance yourself from that person. That’s not a nice situation and some people are stuck in this waaaay too long. „Maybe“ is not originally a self-experienced story rather than dealing with a feeling some might relate and identify with.

Who did the video for it?

Fabian Süggeler for MIGHTKILLYA

In an interview you said that music before was not really an option as you didn’t think you were good enough back then. Who was the first person (before you released your first song on soundcloud and received so great feedback) that believed in you?

That would definitely be my best friend. When we’ve been listening to music and I was singing along or something, she used to always tell that I’ve really got a talent and that I should sing! So I kinda just started and tried it out and now I’m here answering these questions about me as a musician. laughs. Anyways, she’s still my number one supporter and I’m so grateful for that.

And this first song you put on soundcloud, what was it about?

It’s about a mental stage where you don’t really feel the need to worry about any negative stuff, only spending time with people who are on the same vibe as you, living a free life and collecting real memories!

Quite a lot of things I could list now but main thing in my opinion: just be nice to people and do your thaang

What character traits do you like in people´s personality?

Humour, honesty and confidence

“I like humour, honesty and confidence  in people.”

You said you might also become a teacher one day – what do you think are some of the main things children should be given on their way in life?

The best things about being young in our times and the worst things?

Tbh I hope I’m about to find out ;-)

What means home to you?

Having my loved ones around

What´s your favourite season and why?

My favourite season is probably autumn. One of the reason might be the fact that I have amilli coats in my wardrobe. lol

Favourite movie?

The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain

Favourite quote to live by?

A penny for your thoughts, a dollar for your dreams
