“One of my favorite filmmakers is Robert Bresson… I appreciate his use of very real non-actors in his films. Louise is a girl in Paris, from the Swiss Alps region. From a distance, she seemed to me like a character in a Bresson film, and this was my inspiration to shoot her. We wandered the area of St. Michel, and specifically rue Mouffetard, and the Jarden des Plantes. We explored churches, cafes, parks, and the streets. The cold autumn day was perfect… with occasionally sun popping through.”
