We had a chat with incredibly talented Poppy Ajudha, a singer and songwriter from South London, where she talks about her new single “Low Ride” featuring Mahalia, passion and what life taught her so far.

I listened to your new single “Low Ride” and totally fall in love with the sense of rhythm and unintentional lightness. What does this song mean to you?

“Low Ride” is a love song, so when I sing it, it brings me back to the memories that made me write it which is a beautiful thing. I get to relive those moments all the time.

How was collaborating with Mahalia?

Mahalia is such an amazing and talented women, so collaborating with her was a lot of fun.

Three words you would use to describe your music:

Soulful, honest, political

“I am just always myself, thats the most honesty I can offer to the world”

How did you discover your passion for music?

I have always been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember. I was always singing and started writing songs from 8 years old.

You are definitely an artist with that special little extra. Can you somehow explain yourself what that certain little extra is? :)

You tell me! haha I am just always myself, thats the most honesty I can offer to the world.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Definitely an extrovert.

What has life taught you so far?

That it will always be hard, that there will always be hurdles and you will always be on the edge of giving up, but if you give that 10% more and power through you will be the difference between failure and success.

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
