With its relaxing yet hypnotising sound “Neyð” becomes branded on our minds.

When currently Reykjavík based musician and producer Janus Rasmussen (you might know him already as one-half of the duo Kiasmos, alongside Ólafur Arnalds) released his solo last year (via Christian Löffler’s Ki Records) he proved just how much he is an incredible talented composer.

And he is back with something new! The single “Neyð” marks both a homecoming and a turning point for the musician who had put off singing in his tracks since seven years ago in an electronic pop quartet. “I’ve missed singing,” says Rasmussen, “It’s freeing to have relieved myself from the restraint of only doing instrumental work. I wanted the lyrics to convey a desperate, romantic fever dream. This might end up being a bit of a turning point in the music I’ll make from here on out.” he continues.

The intriguing video has been filmed by Benjamin Hardman, an Australian photographer based in Iceland, whose fine-art works is all about the beauty of the barren, cold and volatile environments. Epic!

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
