“I think there’s a certain amount of give and take when it comes to collaborating. I think it’s important to really know where that person is mentally on the day you are writing. It’s always good to properly catch up about everything that’s going on in each other’s lives. I feel this leads to better writing in general because you end up on the same wave together.” Joe Hertz told in an interview with musictech.

This sentence fascinated me deeply, because it reflects the approach of the artist and his way of writing music. Because even though his creative process is “I don’t like to think too much about where a song is going to end up being when I’m making music.” he always wants to convey a specific feeling. “I feel that naturally over the years I have focused on a certain feeling which ties a lot of my music together.” Like a painter who doesn’t have a concrete image in mind from the beginning but still wants to, for instance, put a sparkling summer landscape feeling on paper. And it is exactly this magnificent summer scene that we feel on the new release of the London based artist. Together with the vocals of multi-instrumentalist R&B singer-songwriter Sebastian Gaskin, Hideaway exudes a carefree lightness and this certain energy that makes you feel alive again. That’s precisely what we need at times. And it brings us back to some nostalgic feeling where he captured the vibe of that time with Tears in 2015. Thanks Joe for always putting out great music!

He tells: “Hideaway for me captures something spiritual, chill and energetic all at the same time. I wrote it at a time when I had been struggling to make anything I was getting excited about. I felt out of touch and not assertive in the studio. But the procrastination eventually came to an end, one morning I got up, it was a sunny day, and this idea came through. I think the lesson here was to trust and know these periods are all part of the creative process. Sebastian Gaskin has a really special vocal, perfectly soulful and rhythmic and full of life. Perfect for this record. It’s a song I’m really happy with. It´s about passion for those things in life you really enjoy. Your relationship, your hobbies, your happy space.”

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
