“You cannot wait to be ready because if you do, you never will be. Growth is painful…but so what, staying stagnant is even worse.” are the wise words of Véyah that we want to keep in mind for life. Today the young and talented singer premieres her debut single H8 U on C-Heads and while we listen to the uplifting sound, that is just perfect to prepare us for the weekend, we find out more about her thoughts on music as an outlet in difficult times, her role model in life and forgiveness as being her biggest inner strength.

Hey dear Véyah, just listening to your song, and I really like the dancing vibe of the song. It feels uplifting. Is H8 U based on your personal experience? It feels uplifting. Is H8 U based on your personal
experience?
H8 U is completely based on my personal experiences. I went through one of those relationships that taught me some lessons the hard way. The song is about how much words can affect you, and the freedom that comes from letting go of being emotionally controlled by someone else.

During the pandemic, while still studying in high school, you started to do renditions of popular South Asian songs and Hindi classics on TikTok and that´s how it basically started for you, right? Was music a way for you to get through this difficult time?

The Covid-19 Pandemic was an especially difficult time for me as I’m sure it was for so many other people. But I’ve always had music to look to as a creative outlet (thank god). It has never once failed me during tough times. The way people responded to my Indian covers was really incredible and something I will never forget.

Do you feel a different aspect of your personality coming out when you sing in Hindi?

No, not really, singing, no matter what language it´s in has the same intention for me.

Do you have classical singing training?

Yes, I was trained in Indian classical Carnatic music for a majority of my life. I ended up taking a break from it towards the end of high school, but I will always pay homage to that side of me, because that foundation has informed anything else that I choose to do musically or otherwise. I’ve been able to stretch my other capabilities as a result.

How did you start working with Snafu Records? Did they approach you?

Well, it started with Jay Sean actually. He reached out to me while I still in highschool and we built a great relationship. SNAFU came to the table a bit later and reached out to Jay’s team about me.

“Taking risks is the only way to grow, to build and to empower oneself.”

What have been the best lessons you have learned since you started working professionally in the music business?

You cannot wait to be ready because if you do, you never will be. Taking risks can be terrifying sometimes, but at some point, I realized that taking risks is the only way to grow, to build and to empower oneself. Growth is painful…but so what, staying stagnant is even worse.

Do you have a role model in life and if so, what inspires you about this person? (can be personal or music wise)

I could name so many musical influences that have shaped me into the artist I am, but the biggest reason I can be this artist is because of who I am as a person – and I owe all of that to my family. I’ve been blessed to have an extremely encouraging, and hardworking support system and to me, they are the highest role models I could ask for.

What is your biggest inner strength?

I think my biggest inner strength is forgiveness, for self, and for others. You can only go so long feeling badly about something or someone until you must then move towards change. For me, that always started with accepting and forgiving whatever or whomever, created the unpleasant  situation. That doesn’t mean I’m a pushover lol… I can be a bitch too… but it’s usually with a smile and a wink (laughs)

“I think my biggest inner strength is forgiveness, for self, and for others.”

What´s the best thing about being young in our times? And the most
difficult thing?

This is easy… the best and worst thing is the SAME Thing. Social Media. It empowering and it sucks at the same time.

Besides the music studio what is your happy place?

I’ve learned that my happy place is wherever I’m surrounded by love and support. oh… and dating apps are fun too LMAO… I am single by the way… … …
