“It’s an incredible feeling to escape the winter in London and bask in the warmth of the sun, even if it’s just for a short while. I might sound pretentious, but I think that winter drains the joy out of life. In my opinion, creativity gets obscured and dull, like the endless cloud cover we experience in the UK during the winter months. The moment I stepped into the taxi from the airport, I felt a rush of excitement – this is what it feels like to be alive again.
Cape Town is the perfect getaway – full of life, color, sea, sand, smiles, and energy, exactly what one needs in January. It feels fantastic to bask in the warmth and walk around without shoes, and waking up in the morning feels like a gift rather than a curse.
Ariel and I worked together, shooting purely on film. Despite never meeting before, we trusted each other and delivered excellent results. We traveled across the beach landscape, making the best of the available resources.” George Foote
