Undeniably, there is a magnetic charm when music exists as an extension of one’s persona. This philosophy breathes life into the work of Berlin-based Yuphoric, the genre-defying twosome of the contemporary music scene. Their latest creation, “Red Like Wine”, paints an auditory portrait that’s refreshing yet familiar; it’s a relaxed melody that tantalizes the senses in an understated manner.

The composition exudes a distinctly hip-hop vibe; a leisurely rhythm that serves as a canvas for MERON‘s voice to cascade over. Amidst this, Mike Nasa’s verses punctuate the track, as they weave and intertwine with the melody before confidently treading their own path. This dynamic interplay manifests the distinct personalities and artistic interpretations, delivering a musical narrative that’s as diverse as its creators.

In this context, Mike Nasa explains, ““Red Like Wine” is about the duality of life. A good bottle of red wine can pair amazingly with some meals but not so much a new cream sofa. A beautiful moment can blow up spectacularly in our faces without warning. In the same vein, relationships can see the pendulum swing drastically, and when people get heated, their faces tend to take on a reddish hue similar to sangria.”

Further elaborating, MERON shares, “”Red Like Wine” narrates the dynamics between lovers in the early stages. To me “blushing” doesn’t happen that often with people you’ve grown familiar with, unlike with new lovers. I wanted to capture the feeling of seeing someone special genuinely blush.”

And so the question surfaces: what personal significance might “Red Like Wine” hold? Unquestionably, the melody incites a delightful sensation within me, gently engaging my senses in a manner that feels precisely essential.

This vibrant audioscape is a glimpse of Yuphoric’s impending debut album, “The New Normal,” an alchemical blend of varied genres and voices. The album, standing as an homage to the transformative power of collaboration, incorporates the unique flair of diverse artists, each adding a new hue to the sonic palette.

Hello from Berlin! I love freedom, travelling, long train rides, Stefan Zweig books, cats, colours, writing postcards, music, and movies à la Woody Allen and Wes Anderson. What makes me really happy is the seaside, sunrises and sunsets and having lots of time!
