A night of compressed sentiment surrounding the concept of “4 Weeks of Summer,” this event spanned from visual performance arts, physical installation arts, to the screening of the film “4 Weeks of Summer.” It was the experience of a night of ephemeral art lived by those who attended, a one-of-one moment created by all who participated. With each person adding their uniqueness to the canvas which was “4 Weeks of Summer Experience.”
It was a December Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The air was a little chilly, and it was already dark outside. Everyone started arriving. Bittenlamb was tattooing her first “4 Weeks of Summer” night tattoo. The air was full of whispers and laughs as the DJ set the mood for the night. Moving through the space, with each wall presenting a new wave of visuals that brought together its world. Bonding over shared sentiments, the crowd mingled and moved as the music played.
The “4 Weeks of Summer” live performance was about to begin. Everyone started gathering around the staged area, and the spotlight went on. Each act in the three-part play highlighted one of the stages of the “4 Weeks of Summer”:
- From the first moment, the whirlwind of summer sweeps you away.
- To being completely lost under its spell.
- To saying goodbye to the things of summer and preparing to go back to “normal life.”
Through the lens of the actors, each embodying a type of summer love: physical (sexual) love, romantic love, self-love.
With applause and whistles from the audience, smiles, and bows from the performers, the MC announced the intermission before the main event of the night, the premiere screening of “4 Weeks of Summer” the film. With mixed emotions, everyone dived back in to converse with each other, some with friends from the past, some with new friends that the night brought.
The conversation in the room loudened up, and the DJ blended the music back into the room. After the music moved into its next beat, shifting the energy of the room, the audience now went back into talking about everything they just experienced.
