Listening to MJSB’s new EP 5 Rhythms, released on Create Define Release, feels a bit like time-traveling—back to moments when dancefloors felt like home, when connection came in waves of bass and light. The record moves with intention—unhurried, familiar in feeling. A blend of house and techno, wrapped in depth and a quiet sense of something long remembered. Movement Meditation‘ hints at the EP’s balance—rhythms to move through, but also to slow down with.

Across five tracks, 5 Rhythms draws on deep grooves, warm low-end, and atmospheric details to explore how rhythm can shift both body and mind. Rooted in personal experience and movement-based connection, the release forms part of CDR’s artist development series Pathways, and closes with a stark yet soulful rework by Detroit’s Terrence Dixon.

“Music has played a massive part in my coping skills…” MJSB

Raised in High Wycombe and active in music since 2020, MJSB’s journey is one of deep introspection, shaped equally by sound system culture, personal healing, and the liberating pulse of the club. “I’m sure most people can agree that going to the club, dancing and being free in a non-judgemental space feels liberating and harnesses a sense of connection with everybody involved … swimming through the sounds and feeling the vibrations through your body,” she shares.

She works with just a small setup — an AKAI MPK mini and a Maschine MK2 — building worlds that feel unpolished in the best way: honest, instinctive, and rooted in feeling. Her sound carries traces of joy, solitude, and slow personal shifts, unfolding in rhythms that never try to impress — only to reach. So much electronic music lives in extremes — high drama, fast gratification. 5 Rhythms does something else. It stays close to the body. It gives space to feel. And like the memory of a night well spent, it settles into you — quietly, and with weight.

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
