Once neighbors in a charming old apartment in Hamburg, a city known for its musicals and vibrant dance scene, Maria Bode and Carsten Thun first connected through a message. Back then, Maria was still dancing and had reached out for some photos. A few shoots grew into a friendship, and over time, she found herself drawn behind the lens — falling in love with capturing dancers instead of being the one leaping through the frame. Even after Maria left Hamburg, their connection held. Years later, they found themselves creating together again — joined by the mesmerizing dancer Djamila Fristrup. It was a session full of movement, dialogue, and contrasts: digital versus analog, clarity versus grain, Carsten’s eye versus Maria’s — each shaped by the other, influenced by a friendship built on shared frames and different visions.
