Jeffrey Brandon is a New Orleans–based photographer whose work documents Black Southern culture with depth, honesty, and emotional resonance.
“My name is Jeffrey Brandon, a self-taught photographer from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, now based in New Orleans. My work explores the heart of Black Southern culture — the spirit, resilience, and quiet beauty found in its streets, gatherings, and everyday moments.
I work with both film and digital, but film has always held a deeper meaning for me. It slows everything down and allows me to see people in their truest light. Photography, for me, is about storytelling — not just creating images, but preserving a sense of time, place, and emotion.
Through my lens, I aim to give the people of the streets an opportunity to be seen — to celebrate their individuality, rhythm, and the humanity that so often goes unnoticed. I’m inspired by connection, nostalgia, and the Southern sunlight that seems to wrap everything in warmth. My goal is to show that beauty doesn’t come from perfection, but from honesty.”
