Gosia Bodecka loves when life feels like a film — sometimes a comedy, sometimes a thriller, sometimes a quiet drama. That cinematic sensibility runs through our conversation with her, shaped by presence, freedom, and emotional awareness. Shot in Warsaw by photographer Ania,  on a winter day in a warm, intimate studio tucked inside one of the city’s old tenement houses. It’s there, in stillness and warmth, that Gosia speaks about learning “to live in the moment, not worry too much about the future, and not overthink the past.”

Gosia, what’s a thing people should know about you?

I don’t think anyone has to know anything — if we vibe, we vibe, you’ll learn it naturally; if not, no harm done! (smiles)

Where do you feel most like yourself?

Surrounded by the people who genuinely care about me, who stay by my side without expecting anything — they just are.

Which moment from this shoot with Ania stays with you the most?

There’s not really one single moment. I know Ania pretty well and feel totally comfortable around her. Whenever we meet, it’s always full of chatting and laughing. She has such a great energy and is really attentive to people, which makes it super easy to open up to her.

A lesson you’re learning right now?

To live in the moment, not worry too much about the future, and not overthink the past. To spend my time and energy on people who are worth it and who want to give the same back. I really value balance in my relationships.

I’ve never been to Warsaw — what would you recommend I do and see there?

I love Warsaw — it’s where I was born and raised, and summer here is just the best. I’m always on the move and (if I can) pretty much walk everywhere. If you visit, I’d say do a full-day walk from the Iluzjon cinema to the Saxon Garden — or even all the way to Plac Teatralny if you’ve got the energy! I have my favorite spots too — I love Oleandrów Street, where my friends have cafés and little boutiques, like the MOD Oleandrów eatery, OL3 wine bar, a jewelry shop by Kopi, and NAGO for amazing clothes. You could spend a whole day just there!

What’s a small daily ritual that grounds you?

Listening to music — it’s my go-to way to manage my mood. I can lift my spirits, calm down, or just get in the right headspace with the right songs. I especially love blasting music and singing in the car; it always cheers me up and gives me such a boost of energy. Lately, I’ve been coming back to some of my favorite female singers — Fiona Apple, Tori Amos, and Björk.

“Being in control of my own life and independent from others is what I value most.”

You mentioned on Instagram that you love when life feels like a film — same here. If you had to pick one film that matches that vibe for you, which would it be?

Pick just one movie? No way. I love cinema — going to the movies, watching films on the big screen, and getting completely lost in the stories and emotions. I adore the energy of Mike Mills’ Beginners, the ethereal vibe of Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides, and I really connected with Corsage. Of course, I also love the magic of Amélie and Roman Holiday. Lately, I’ve been blown away by Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value and Mascha Schiliński’s Sound of Falling — they really hit me and gave me chills.

What does freedom mean to you at this stage of your life?

Absolutely everything. There’s probably nothing I value more in life than being in control of my own life, making my own decisions, and being independent from others.

The most important thing in life?

My daughter, my friends, feeling free, being healthy, and being able to do what I love in life.

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
