“The easy path today becomes the harder one tomorrow,” I once read — and there’s a lot of truth in that. Sometimes there comes a moment when running no longer works, even if you want it to. A point where you’re forced to stop, turn inward, and face what’s been left unresolved. To ask difficult questions. To take responsibility. And, perhaps, to choose a new way forward.
With “Monsters,” Majik opens the door to that space. Taken from his upcoming EP Between Worlds, the track reflects years spent avoiding parts of himself in order to keep the peace — until that strategy quietly collapsed. “I spent years avoiding parts of myself to keep the peace, until that stopped working and I had to face patterns I’d ignored and let go of an identity that no longer fit. The song isn’t about dwelling on the past,” he shares, “but about recognising the power it can have over you and taking responsibility for change. Writing it felt like a necessary reset, a way of acknowledging what was there without staying trapped in it, and moving forward with a clearer sense of who I am.”
The accompanying video directed by Andy Morgan mirrors this confrontation with striking restraint. Shot at night in a secluded woodland setting, Monsters is a stripped-back performance piece that places Majik alone in an exposed, isolated environment. Darkness, smoke, shifting light and handheld camera work build a tense, immersive atmosphere, drawing the viewer inward rather than offering distance or explanation. There is no literal storytelling to expect. The video lives in mood, texture, and presence. As it reaches its final moments, a sense of isolation becomes clear — the feeling of standing alone when facing the end of a chapter. “So I run, run, run, run away. And I’ll never look back.” This can be read as a metaphor for confrontation rather than escape.
Back in 2015, the London-based indie alt-pop artist released music as part of a duo, before stepping away entirely from the music industry. What followed was a period of reflection — questioning expectations, direction, and his own role within it all. Now, he returns on his own terms, alone, and ready to walk this path. “I don’t care if I’m wrong. But I’ve been in this fight for way too long,” he sings. Enjoy our exclusive premiere!
