Do you understand me? The language of art

Art is something that comes from inside of us, influenced by who we are and what we experience, or us trying to create a totally imaginery world, a certain feeling. It might evoke feelings and thoughts in others. To some people it will mean something. And others will not be able to relate to it.

Finding the stroking sunray

Her brain feels fried. What shall she do? Where is this bloody fulfilled life that they kept telling her about. That will give her all the satisfaction she was anticipating. And does it exist anyway…maybe it doesn’t so she can stop hunting for it, right?

Blue of Distance

A lot has been said about the color blue, I’ll hardly be the first. This isn’t to say this is an analysis of blue as a color, or blue as an emotion. But blue as perspective — the color of distant vaporous memory, opaque and often hindered — blue that moves. To illustrate my point, I have to begin with a tracing. To frame a lighthouse, a flower vase, a day in fall — a vision of the mundane in a steady flow that proves to be significant.

Good things take time

In our fast paced world it has become significantly more difficult to keep this inner sense of calmness and to stay serene even when you don’t get an instant sense of success and remain confident when you don’t get an immediate feedback. We are impatient with ourselves and others too and like that create an environment in which things and people and ourselves cannot develop at its natural speed anymore.

The Stories We Tell Ourselves

The more I pushed the memories away, the more persistent they became. Alone, in the late hours of the night, I found myself searching for that fatal flaw. Maybe my life was too complicated. Maybe I wasn’t attractive enough. Maybe my job wasn’t good enough. Maybe I wasn’t funny, kind or fun enough. These thoughts were painful and unwanted. I needed to push them away, so I would pour myself a glass of whiskey and wait for the anger to come and with it, that sweet amnesia.

The stories of the people behind the art: Violeta Fijal #17

What is art? For me it is being fully myself. Art is my love for nature, for paper, for drawings. Connecting with my inner child and everything that used to amuse me in the world and was forgotten during the teenage stormy years. Now I am thankful for being able to practice yoga with candles and scents. Having flowers on my desk.

Thanks to all the artists out there for saving my mind.

Never have I listened to more music than right now. Every evening after work I dive into my own world surrounded by sounds and lyrics that make me dream away, calm down, give me mental strength, energy and inspiration, let me time travel, make me happy or dwell in melancholy, bring up memories and daydreams about the future.
