I love to see your waving hair when the wind blows. Marisa Chafetz captured model Alaia Baldwin and together they wanted to capture the little moments that make summer worthwhile in a boring place. “I lived in New Orleans all year and I just came home to the suburbs of new york city. When you take yourself out of the suburbs and then come back to them they don’t even feel real- it feels like you’re living in a doll house. To be as true to concept as possible, the photos were all shot in my hometown on the north shore of long island. We drove around in my convertible blasting “summertime sadness” and made stops in grocery store parking lots, random people’s front lawns, and pretty bodies of water.”

The lighting, the softness, and that almost candid vibe made everything feel more personal and real. You can tell there’s trust between the photographer and the model, which really comes through in each shot. It’s one of those sets that reminds you how powerful simplicity can be when it’s done with intention.
