Michael Jacques, freelance photographer from Montreal, Canada is currently working on a low-key project which is about laugh and natural smile. In between the “serious shooting” he manages to capture the moments with the “camera-off” feeling, where all tension is gone and the genuine smiles appear.
Since usually it is only him and the model and at times a make-up artist as well it is not difficult to establish a friendly relation with the model and feel comfortable. “I love making jokes and have fun with models. Like that, it’s really easy for me to have natural smiles and even big laugh at times. I always liked to snap these moments for myself and after I found again a beautiful raw file of a laughing model, I had this idea to use them for something more. So I went back through all of my pictures and I ended up with around 30 photographs. It has always been my thing to catch natural smiles; my favorites are the shy-smiles. They are the cutest.” All images were taken in 2015 and Michael Jacques is planning to do a set like that every year.
