Camille Rouzaud´s work is inspired by the fascination of all around juvenile freedom, nomadic civilizations and places from memories and dreams of her childhood. The currently New York based artist´s work focuses on architecture, details of cultures and looking for large spaces, mostly shot on film.
What makes a great photograph?
I don’t have an original answer for this. I don’t care about technique…for me its more about the emotion a photograph evokes, you know? Whatever that emotion may be. Caring about the subject matter is really important too. However, all of that is pretty subjective anyway.
What are your main goals as an artist?
To grow personally and therefore in my art. To construct a real body of work with my very own perspective.
The hardest part about being an artist?
Ah! I don’t know… maybe being satisfied with myself. I guess it’s the same for everyone, but you’re just more exposed when you do art.
What inspires you to create new work?
Joy, I think. With a peaceful mind. This way I’m really connected with myself and my creative instinct can just flow out.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
I can’t really say…everything changes so fast. If I’d have to guess, I’d say still free around the world; honest and passionate about what I do. We’ll see what comes along the way to make it even more rich and diverse.
