“Natural Light and Analaog Camera – I am a purist” David Maurel

David Maurel is a 31 year old South of France based photographer. Focusing on fashion and documentary he is always “trying to have the same view on every human I photograph.” His fashion photography is close to portrait photography. Very intensive and very close to the person, the work stimulates the viewer´s thoughts. “I wanted to keep something from my travels and memories from my life. « souvenirs » as we say in french. So I started to take pictures of people I met on my trips, of my family, my closest friends to keep my life in pictures.”

“I currently work on « Modern Tribes » – a series of the youth of French council estates. I work with my analog camera because I love the part of the magic, the unpredictable feeling of the grain like a nostalgia from the past. I am a purist when it comes down to taking pictures. I always choose natural light for my portraits and I always love to capture a beautiful sunset.”
