Music is a great natural high and great natural escape. Every day I get inspired by the beauty of our planet with nature, books, music, love for one’s neighbor – such is my idea of happiness. Music being one of the most soothing and uplifting elements, it has always been said that it is the language of feeling and of passion. Allow your spirit to feel nurtured and inspired by the presence of Bloem‘s natural tunes. Music should be healing, music should uplift the soul, music should inspire.
Her ethereal sound is inspired by her love for nature, upbringing in Cape Town as well as traveling around the world. After listening to her tracks your soul will feel soothed and your body will want to naturally dance.
Where are you from and how did your upbringing affect your creative expression in music?
I’m from Cape Town, South Africa. I grew up watching my father playing the drums and singing in african jazz bands. He’s a very talented musician so from a young age I was inspired by his dedication to his art and creativity.
Where do you collect inspiration for your music?
I am inspired whilst traveling and recharging in nature . Especially when I have some time off in between work and I can immerse myself in the country’s culture.
Your music brings you all around the world – any particular venues/places you love to play at?
Hard to choose one but my favourite places I’ve played so far are; Burning Man, Scorpios in Mykonos, Woomoon in Ibiza, Odin Mzaar in Beirut and Nomade in Tulum.
Favorite outfit you wear while playing sets?
I love wearing colourful fun accessories and outfits that are slightly quirky and show a bit of my personality. Wearing a multicolour space suite at Burning Mam was definitely one of my favourites.
If you go into the woods today, you’ll most likely find me in a quiet corner hugging trees.
If you could collaborate with one artist in the future who would it be ?
This is hard question cause everyone I wanted to say sadly isn’t alive anymore. However I would dream to collaborate with a legendary musician like Oumou Sangaré. Her voice is so powerful!
What does nature mean to you and how does it impact your life?
Nature means everything to me. Animals are my best friends. If you go into the woods today, you’ll most likely find me in a quiet corner hugging trees.
Favorite song you can’t stop listening to right now?
Viken Armen – Walk with Nelson. It’s not that new but I just discovered it and it’s so happy and bouncy feel good vibes. And of course it has Nelson Mandela’s vocals who was our president of SA.
