A warm welcome to Danny Getz on C-Heads. The New York based photographer teamed up with natural beauty Colleen McCabe to create a truly mesmerizing series. Hair and make-up done by Tara Gervacio.

“I’ve found that as a photographer, it’s easy to obsess over what you envision for a shoot and what you want for your portfolio. That’s simply an oversight of what the interaction is however. In fashion/portrait photography there’s a relationship and a collaboration between whoever is involved.

For me that was immediately crucial to the art-form. Any shoot I do I try to dig into what the model wants and desires for their book, and the imagery of their being.

For Colleen; she felt inspired by a minimalistic aesthetic that focused on the use of natural light, shadows, and posing to make her vision come true.

Referencing 90’s Calvin Klein photography and monochrome art, Colleen scripted a beautiful and timeless moodboard to me as we planned our shoot.

As the collaboration came together, Tara became another artist creating this piece of work and brought impeccable skills to expand and enrich the shoot. She wanted Colleen’s beauty accompanied by effortless and natural looks, and a slight smoky eye for a touch of edge within the images.

To me, this piece was so successful because 3-artists developed and adapted to the concept together, and that in itself is an art-form; the art-form.”
