“Blue Panther. Wildly shaken and smoothly stirred. The best drink for your time on Mars.” Oh well, that definitely sounds promising. With his debut single “Space up” currently Vienna based NIQTIN indulges in the passion of the Bohemian lifestyle. Bohemia was a counter-movement to bourgeois society between the mid-19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The search for identity, personal growth, creativity and self-fulfilment were the essence of a bohemian’s life.
And “Space up” makes us feel that way. About 3 minutes full of positive vibes, where sounds in rhythm and at various volumes are enough to give joy. A mix of 70s-funk-inspired grooves blended with auto-tune effected vocals. The catchy lyrics are a mix of English and German, which don’t take themselves too seriously, existing free of aim and purpose for their own sake. At the heels of its release, NIQTIN talks art, biggest vice and letting life do its own thing.
Our last conversation together was about a year ago. What was the most beautiful experience in this period which has influenced you the most?
That was exactly one moment where the past and the future coincidentally blended together. In the beginning I was a little spaced out, but suddenly everything shifted and finally made sense. Now I’m completely clear and know what the future holds.
NIQTIN – Space Up
Your new single “Space up” is a good mood song. What puts you in a happy mood instantly?
Most of all: A nice cigarette and a tumbler of Blue Panther, my forever favorite drink. The secret lies inside the glass.
Congratulations! The accompanying video is really cool and cinematic. What is the idea behind it?
Thank you, that’s so kind of you! Glad, you appreciate my debut video! Clearly it stands for breaking out, spacing up and flying to the stars.
NIQTIN is about living the beautiful bohemian life „where everything is always nice”. To what extent does the place of living play a major part in that? Because I would say that for the real bohemian way of living one has definitely have to look beyond the borders of Vienna (and of Austria), where the weather is nicer, the sun shines more golden and the wine tastes sweeter. (smile)
To me it’s about the lifestyle rather than the place you’re in or at. Just like Rock ‘n’ Roll, doing what you want, whenever you want and letting life do its own thing. I fully believe in cosmic energy, faith and kismet.

On Tik Tok there are several clips of you, where you sometimes play very much with the “Falco” image. How much Falco is in you?
Excuse me, I don’t understand. Who or what is Falco?
Music, photography, visuals – you are an artist soul. Do you think art is important for people’s lives?
For most people art is something like a random, fuzzy bubble they cannot enter nor comprehend. So I guess art is not important to them. Speaking for me, I feel like an addict to arts – I simply can’t get enough of it and I can’t stop creating either.
Your biggest vice?
Fashion of course and giving in to all the nice, pleasurable temptations of life.
