How beautiful it is to be in a beautiful place and spend time with people who matter to us. Even though we can always create such precious moments in our daily lives, there is nothing better for the soul than taking breaks, far away from the pace of the cities we live in, replaced by the rhythm of the waves and the vastness.
Photographer Janelle Pietrzak took a break just like that, together with her sister. And they immediately took advantage of this beautiful place for a photo shoot with model Giti Tehranchian.
“This year, my sister and I started a new tradition. We decided to take a mini vacation before the nonstop rush of the holiday season. We chose Tulum, Mexico, and headed there the second week of December. We were greeted with low-season vibes and nearly empty beaches, just the sunny, quiet getaway we sought.
Although I was on vacation, I couldn’t help reaching out to a local photographer and inquiring about models in the area. She connected me with model Giti Tehranchian. Giti and I ended up spending a beautiful afternoon creating this story. Giti had just recently moved to Tulum, and her enthusiasm for her new home was completely infectious. Giti styled the whole story, and everything was shot on 35mm and 120mm film.
I left Tulum with the perfect winter tan, a bunch of beautiful images, and a lovely new friend. I can’t wait to do it again next year.”
