“Continuing on from my photo shoot with Paula, as featured in C-Heads in-print, Volume #38, The Art of Slowing Down, I booked her for a swim campaign which I shot on the remote island of Fernando de Noronha, off the northeast coast of Brazil. Following the campaign shoot, Paula and I did some creative shoots around the island at Baía do Sancho, Baía dos Porcos and Praia da Cacimba. It was a true adventure, zipping around the island via buggy, and descending ladders to access some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. We shot on colour, as well as black & white 35mm film. The conditions on Noronha were extreme, at the peak of summer just south of the equator, days were hot & humid, only bearable at sunrise & sunset, or in the shade. Paula as always is an inspiration to work with, eager to fulfil a creative vision.
As a side note, it’s always been a dream of mine to jet off to a remote island in the middle of the ocean to photograph a swim story. In a way, this shoot as well as the swim campaign, is an extension of another story featured in C-Heads that was published on April 29th 2018 – Follow Me to Seychelles. Putting together a photo shoot like this in such a location and working with incredible talent is second to none and a truly incomparable experience. It’s my hope to continue creating stories like this and sharing them with the readers of C-Heads.”
This gifted photographer also crafted a wonderful series with Paula, for our C-Heads print volume 38. The issue delves into the art of slowing down, celebrates the joy of crafting, invites you to feel the freedom from society’s temporal constraints, and captures the alluring sentiment that everything looks more beautiful under the sun.
