There’s a quiet kind of intimacy in this series—rooted in shared vulnerability and soft strength. Captured by the talented Benedetta Norelli and starring the radiant Marta Trucillo in pieces by MissFunkyNatty, it’s a celebration of self-reclamation, both in front of and behind the lens.
“These photos mean a lot to me as they symbolize the breaking through a self-imposed limit: the fear of not being enough. My passion for photography accidentally led me to the other side of the lens as a model, and from that moment on I set aside my desire to capture images, stifled by a feeling of insecurity. When the independent lingerie brand Miss Funky Natty invited me to pose for them, something shifted within me, prompting me to pick up my camera again and reclaim my place behind the lens. Thinking about who to photograph, my mind immediately went to Marta, a girl I had met a few years before during a modeling job. I reached out to her, and she eagerly accepted my proposal, radiating the same wonderful spirit and warmth I remembered from our first encounter. During the photoshoot in her quiet sunny apartment, where she lives with her boyfriend and two adorable bunnies, Marta opened up about her struggles with body image and feelings of inadequacy. This revelation shook me deeply, as I see in her a figure of confidence, sensuality, and strength. Yet, this discovery only deepened our connection, as we both shared our vulnerabilities, supporting each other and silencing the nagging voice that tells us we’re not enough.” Benedetta Norelli
Benedetta Norelli also contributed, alongside Caterina Norelli, as a model in a wonderful, soulful series photographed by Janelle Ruth Pietrzak, featured in our new Volume 39 – a love letter to simple joys, human warmth, and the in-between moments that often go unnoticed.
