Shot during Wakana Reunion — a small music and arts gathering tucked into the nature reserve of Los Alcornocales in southern Spain — this short series by Pablo Gil is a tribute to presence and simplicity.
With the soft hills and wild horses as backdrop, model Beatriz Calderón becomes part of the landscape — strong, grounded, and effortlessly herself. There’s no big production here. Just natural light, time slowing down, and the calm that comes when everything around you is alive but unhurried.
“The idea was to capture a sense of strength, natural femininity, and calm in the middle of this serene and powerful landscape.” A few glimpses of the festival itself are woven in, adding context to the atmosphere and the sense of creative freedom that shaped the shoot. The images reflect that intention: raw, minimal, and full of quiet emotion.
Pablo Gil also contributed to our C-Heads print volume 38. The issue delves into the art of slowing down, celebrates the joy of crafting, invites you to feel the freedom from society’s temporal constraints, and captures the alluring sentiment that everything looks more beautiful under the sun.
