Sometimes it isn’t a problem when words don’t quite line up. While deep conversations can be something wonderful, there are moments when connection doesn’t need language at all and presence, intuition, and trust are enough. Creativity often lives exactly there: in the quiet understanding between gestures, glances, and shared attention.
This series came together in that space. After meeting Katerine Tamayo on the beach earlier the same day, London based photographer Jonny Faulkner followed the impulse to create, without overthinking, without long explanations. What mattered was openness, curiosity, and the willingness to step into the moment together.
“Despite our English / Spanish language barrier, we shot this selection of images in a short twenty-minute window in Varadero, Cuba, racing to beat both the setting sun and a taxi waiting to take me back to Havana airport to fly home to the UK.” Jonny tells us.
A fleeting encounter, shaped by sun, time pressure, and mutual sensitivity — proof that connection doesn’t always arrive through words, but sometimes through shared silence and creative flow. And Katerine’s laughter and positive, natural beauty are simply enchanting — how could you not fall in love?
